Is This The Greatest Era In Giants History? |

As we continue to celebrate our good fortune I find myself being somewhat reflective and wondering if we're enjoying the greatest era in Giants history. Considering we root for a storied franchise that's quite an accomplishment if true. Comparing era's can be a hazardous endeavor, inherently having such a discussion is rife in subjectivity, however, I think most would agree that a compelling argument could be made that we are living during the halcyon years of this franchise.

Why do we waste so much time quibbling about whether the Giants' Draft "strategy" is to take the best player available, or is to fill a need as if it was a zero-sum exercise which, of course, it is not. I have never quite understood why some folks are so uncomfortable in acknowledging the importance of need. Do they have a concern that in serving need, they will choose less than the best- however they or the pundits may define best. That's probably the issue in most cases even though most discussion of specifics is all about positions of need as we fans perceive it. In any case, the whole conception is one based on a flawed premise.
