"A-Rod set an American League record with seven RBIs in the sixth inning of the Yankees' 10-2 victory against the Rays on Sunday afternoon, blasting a three-run shot before coming back with a grand slam.

- With the two home runs, Rodriguez tied Mark McGwire for eighth on the all-time home run list with 583. He also reached the 30-home run and 100-RBI plateaus even though he missed the Yankees' first 28 games recovering from hip surgery (that's amazing).

- David Robertson and Joba Chamberlain each pitched perfect innings. Both are considered to be in the hunt for a postseason roster spot. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said most of the most difficult decisions regarding the postseason roster involve the bullpen.

- A.J. Burnett allowed seven hits in five innings. But he held the Rays to two runs (one earned) while walking just one batter in his final tune-up before the playoffs. In improving to 13-9, Burnett won his 100th career game.

- With George Steinbrenner watching from a skybox, the Yankees finished with a 103-59 record, giving them the most victories for a Yankees team since the 2002 squad went 103-58. They are the only 100-win team in the majors this season.

- Rodriguez's two homers helped the Yankees set a new franchise record with 244 home runs this season, breaking the previous record of 242 held by the 2004 team. The Yankees homered in 127 of their 162 games.

- Girardi officially named CC Sabathia the Game 1 starter in the American League Division Series, and the New York Daily News is reporting that Girardi told Sabathia to be ready to pitch Wednesday. But because both the Twins and Tigers won on Sunday, the Yankees won't know their first-round opponent until the two teams meet in a one-game playoff on Tuesday.

"Here I sat a few hours ago telling you how numbers don't mean anything, then I run into 30 and 100. It was two pretty neat moments... I didn't think about it much. I just didn't think it was realistic at all, so therefore it wasn't even a goal. I kind of had conceded that, especially with other days off we've been taking here as of late." -- Rodriguez, who reached 30 homers and 100 RBI for the 12th straight season, tying Jimmie Foxx's big league record. His 13 overall 30/100 seasons ARE a big league record."

Yankee's first two games will start at 6:07PM on TBS (whoever thy play).

Will be the Twinkies coming to town. And I couldn't be more pleased about it. Verlander was going to be a pain but now, the best guy they got pitched today so he wont pitch again until game 3 at the earliest, and their second best guy is Carl Freakin Pavano!. Kubel and Cuddyer have been red hot lately and Mauer has been hot for, oh, his career so they aren't going to be a pushover but of the two teams I much preferred facing the Twins to the Tigers.  Heres hoping for a quick series while the Sox and Angels go the distance and pound the crap out of each other.
