also reported on Total Access, NFL Network last night...that he's working out with Detroit.

They say (NFL Network Mike Lombardi being "they") that many teams are scared of his lingering hamstring issues which has apparently followed him since High School.

It doesn't hurt to be an NFL player sometimes-kill a 59-year old construction worker on the MacArthur Causeway with your recklessness driving drunk (1.2), receive no serious jail time, (pay off the Reyes' family) and get the inevitable reinstatement and job somewhere in the NFL. Only in America!

My godmother was killed by a drunk driver. I have no respect for this criminal.

I had an 18 year old niece that was killed by a drunk driver a couple of years ago. As a general principal I hate every last one of them but you have your facts wrong in this case. He didn't get off light because he played in the NFL but because of the existence of a video that showed the victim, Mario Reyes, running out into traffic without looking in an attempt to catch a bus. There was enough doubt that even if Stallworth had been sober that he could have avoided hitting Reyes. That is the reason why the family of the victim agreed with the sentence the DA asked for.

madbadger,

I've driven plenty of times late at night over that causeway and never hit anyone. And this happened in daylight. I lived in Miami and know the jaywalking epidemic. You can see it all the time still, but you'll never hit someone on that causeway if you are alert-it's flat as can be. He was legally drunk. That is totally irresponsible, no? He is an NFL player with a huge chunk of change to settle-that is for sure-instead of facing a possible harsh sentence. The Reyes family knew that, too. Miami DA's are ruthless normally against average people, but Stallworth presented more of a challenge. He escaped because he was Donte'. That was the ultimate outcome despite Reyes' running into traffic foolishly or not, loopholes in Miami law, too, about pedestrians causing accidents. BTW, how fast can a 59-year old guy move? Leaping like a cat onto the pavement? It's a sad incident that should not have happened.

I respect your take, madbadger, don't get me wrong. Just tragic overall just like the terrible effects of drunk driving as we both know.

The fact is that Stallworth is available like it or not although I can understand the not liking it. If the Lions want to work him out, so be it. But, he has never played up to his putative talent, and is five years removed from his best (70 catch, 945 yards) season.

Cheers!
