At the very least he goes to The Tiger Woods school of sex addicts and then says that he's cured.

The real problem here is getting drunk to the point where inhibitions fail and the devil inside gets out of the cage. There is clearly an underlying disrespect for women and the need for affirmation to his manhood.

I have no idea whether he is guilty in either or both incidents nor would I conjecture about his behavior in this latest situation. I don't know why anyone would feel entitled to do so. It's Roethlisberger's problem not ours; he's the one at risk, not us.

Cheers!

"Hey, Sam56, do you come from Great Britain like Ceri?  Your spelling hints at that.  Just wondering."

I came originally from Borough Park, Brooklyn during the "heyday" of "The Boys of Summer".  Is Brooklyn close to Great Britian?

I did read a lot of Dickens in my youth, could his British spelling impacted me, do you think? Than later on in my life I read ALL of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes". Could that have screwed me up? And of course, don't forget the plays and sonnets of one Englishman named William Shakespeare that I read prodigiously from. Seems to me that he did seem to write "funny".

So please excuse me if my spelling hints of all that Great Britian "badness".

BTW: Painter, I thought your post above was both brilliant and to the common sense point.

Fame comes with a price. He's a team leader and a role model for kids. Agree with it or not, a lot of young men look up to him. He's not beyond criticism. He is innocent until proven guilty, but public opinion will be passed. It will likely go away in time, as the rape charge looks weak.

Makes you wonder how one would react to a 6'6 drunk bully disrespecting a young woman. Someone's daughter. Who among you would have had the balls to stand up to him?

I love you Painter, but this guy can go "blank" himself.

Sam, thanks for answering my question. I don't think of English spelling as "badness."  I read all of the things you did and enjoyed it all.  I really like your spelling.

Derach, Roethy may have two SB rings but he really only "earned" one.  In his first SB, the Steelers won despite him.  And, though he earned the second, he admitted that on the winning TD he thought he had thrown an INT.  Sometimes it's just better to be lucky.

CA Giantfan, you said that we can "...rush to judgement that he is an idiot."   And, you didn't even mention his driving a motorcycle without a helmet.

Well, if we include that incident it would change from a rush to a leisurely walk.

don't be too quick to put vijay on a pedestal as he has his own warts.... years ago vijay was caught cheating on the asian tour, as he fudged his scorecard on the last tourney of a year to try and retain his card

and more than one golfer on the austrailian tour claims that singh renegged on loans made to him when he was struggling.....singh's an ok golfer, but he ain't no saint...go Giants!!!!!

I still don't think any of that stuff means he can't throw a football or win games ... which is what we are doing this for, afterall.  A 20-something yr old multi millionaire celebrity with bad judgment?  Whoda thunk??!   Girls Gone Wild videos are filled with 20 yr olds excercising bad judgment (and for a lot less than a shot being w/ a starting NFL qb).

If/when his off field anticts cause him to miss games, he is a detriment to his team.  Until then, he is a stud nfl qb (when put in the right situation ... which he has been so far).

Well Big Ben has hired Ray Lewis' "fixer".   You remember the lawyer Ray Lewis used to make witnesses change their minds?

Ruh Ro Astro

Quote
As the investigation regarding the sexual assault allegations against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger continues, KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh reports that Roethlisberger has conceded having "sexual contact" with the woman who claims sexual assault, but that there was no intercourse.

The admission apparently came during an interview of Roethlisberger conducted at the scene.

Per the report, Roethlisberger claims that the woman fell and injured her head after the incident.  She then went to a hospital and alleged that she was sexually assaulted.

CA Giant Fan  I certainly think you are on to something about lacking good sound judgment.
Ben appears to keep finding himself in a situation that will be bad publicity at the very least.

I truly hope he is not guilty because if he is it will follow him the rest of his life.
