I can't add anything but my agreement either.  This board is the best source of Giants news and the home of the most knowledgeble fans around.  My enjoyment of the team and the game would be greatly diminished if not for the forum MG created for us.

If I could add just one more nudge to something vette and Lenn have posted: If it's at all possible, every one should attempt to make one of the many events that give you an opportunity to meet some of the people who you have come to know at this on-line community. Sharing a meal, a beverage or a game is very special.

The opening event is usually the Summer Camp picnic. It's looking more and more likely that the Giants will once again hold their summer training program on the campus of SUNY in Albany. The Capital District is beautiful in summer, the campus is accommodating and has an ample supply of affordable lodging choices, and attending practices is a unique experience for football fans. Then, of course the company is excellent. There are usually dinners and breakfasts, sometimes excursions to horse tracks or golf courses. But the signature event is the picnic; 2 hours of family friendly good times, good food, good beer and games with good people.

The Away-Game get togethers are another opportunity to put names to faces, and enjoy a good game (and hopfully a Giants Victory). Last year there were two (I believe), one in east-central Jersey and another in the northern downstate of New York. Personally, I missed them both, but they were great successes from all reports.

Then there are the Tailgate Parties. Every home game includes a pregame party were any BBH'r is welcomed with food and libations and great conversations. This year will see the reconfiguration of the parking lots that will likely force a relocation from the usual spot. But, as soon as that gets settled, I am personally counting on a return to the same good times as we have enjoyed in the past.

Actually, since some members have had long standing tailgate traditions that have kept their tailgating experiences separate from others, I would like to suggest that this forced relocation is a great opportunity to combine forces and begin a new, and bigger tradition.

All told, there are about 12 opportunities spread out over the course of 6 months, to meet and enjoy the personal camaraderie of this great group. So, if you can, try and make it to one or more. I'd like to meet you all, shake your hands, and pour you a frigid shot of Jager if you'll have one.

Last season was the first time I've even been to a Giants home game, and was incredibly excited to see the Meadowlands before it was taken down (my dad, Terry, is really great about realizing the significance of an event like this.. I still remember april '95 @ the Forum dad).  The entire weekend was fantastic bar the drive down, and that was only due to stopping outside the PA rest area for about 3 hours of frozen sleep.  Next time I'll make sure there's a comforter in the car lol.

We caught a great broadway show, hit up some 'fine dining' at White Castle lol, and were getting prepared for the big game the next day.  Now I had no idea what to expect as I've been to a lot of football games, but never a tailgate.  Far and away, the tailgate is the most memorable event of the trip for me, the people that represent this board were some of the nicest I've ever met, had a great love of our team, and in general made me feel welcome to be at Giant Stadium.  I've been to sporting events all my life;  it's what dad and I do... but never have I ever been as proud to be apart of a group of people such as yourselves.

I wanted to thank you all for making it one of the best trips of my life.

PS -even though the Gmen lost.

Dave

For several years some of our group wanted to try and do a draft day sort of get together. I know they have changed the format of the draft so the first day would be very hard now, but if anyone is interested, maybe we could try for a Sunday thing.
 What do you think??

Absolutely fantastic and true thread.

Coming over here when first invited way back when was the smartest thing I ever did on this computer. Truly great bunch of Giant fans here who I never tire of reading and writing to.

Hopefully I can get to meet a bunch of you this year.

Thanks Rich.

The softspoken, darkly handsome man in the blue Giants tie sips his Gevalia here at the bbs cafe, and nods in agreement with his fellow BBHers. "Best place in the world for caffeine, the news and great camaraderie. I missed camp last year, hope to make it this year! Se ya then!"

I remember the old board wars particularly among specific individuals.  This board's level of civility and general respect (even if there's serious disagreement) is wonderful. Maybe we've all collectively mellowed as well.  Kudos to everyone here.

Love the board.  Love the football and the knowledge.  Plus I can get advice on subjects like ice dams and broken washing machines.  Love to get the chance to provide good info when I can as well.  Just an A+ place.  Thanx to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much to add that hasn't already been said by the fine gentlemen that frequent this board.  It's been a blast guys and I see more of the same in the future.  I remember the day I got the invite to come over here from the old board.  I had already noticed some of my favorites had disappeared and didn't know where they had went.  Then in the invite came and I was grateful not just to be back among the old friends but that some of these extremely smart individuals felt enough of my contributions to even invite me along. I hope to meet some of you in the future as I have yet had the pleasure.  Maybe soon I will but until then this wonderful board will suffice.

For me, visiting this board is now part of being a Giant fan. The two are no longer seperable. I can't think of a bigger compliment to Rich than that for his tremendous efforts, and those of many others behind the scenes.
