The Cowboys start a full week earlier than the Giants.  The Redskins/Eagles about 3 days.

I'm sure there are contract limitations on the total number of camp days.  But it seems you'd be better off starting earlier and then have some days off during camp.

Why do the Giants start so late?

Here's an article from Mosley of ESPN.  He thinks Barden is a secret weapon this year.

While I forget the number, there is a limit to how many days before your first preseason game that you are allowed to start camp.  Since Dallas is playing in the HOF game, they are starting camp much earlier.   Although my thinking is that 5 PS games and the early start of camp may wear them down a bit through the long regular and post season (assuming they make it that far).

Mighty is exactly right: the agreement the league has with the union dictates the maximum amount of days that a team may have players in summer camp prior to the first preseason game.

Since Dallas opens the preseason at the HOF game, they will start camp earlier, and both Washington and Philly are playing their opening preseason games on the following weekend, they start later, while the Giants will play the first Monday night game of the preseason, and therefore will begin camp last.

Mosley sure paints a rosy pic for Nicks & Barden. 1,250 yards for Nicks is certainly doable if the injury bug doesn't bite. Recall he missed the 1st four(?) games Rook season. Extrapolate his Rook #'s to 16 games, near 1,000 yards.
As for Barden's seven TD's, not without injury to a Player above him on depth chart. Even then, still haven't seen evidence that he can handle Press D by an NFL Corner.

As for BJ, last year will be this year. Ahmad will be the feature back in a RB rotation that features Ahmad, BJ, Ware, & Brown. Yes, I think the Girls will miss Flozell. Romo better have eyes in the back of his head.
