Ohio cat stows away for Disney trip

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - When an Ohio woman packed her bags for a Disney vacation, her cat didn't want to stay behind.

Sometime Monday, Bob-bob the cat found his way into Ethel Maze's suitcase, made it through screening at Port Columbus International Airport and was loaded into an airplane for a flight to Orlando.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/RTXXKh ) reports the black cat popped out when Maze unzipped her bag after checking into her hotel Monday night. Maze, of Circleville, Ohio, says the 14-month-old cat was shaken but still purring.

Maze was part of a group of disabled veterans and volunteers making an annual trip to Orlando.

Mike Groleau, who handled the bags for the group, says he thought he saw the bag move, but loaded it along with the other bags heading to Orlando.

Ohio woman dies after pet llama slips, strikes her

DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) - A sheriff's department report says a woman died following a collision with her pet llama, which slipped trying to greet her.

The report by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office says Florence Lanahan apparently had a heart attack as she was being transported to a local hospital.

The report says Lanahan, a former Delaware County coroner, called for help Tuesday after her llama, Baby Doll, slipped on wet grass while running to greet her and knocked her down, causing Lanahan to strike her head on concrete.

The report says there's no evidence the animal was acting maliciously.

The family is working with the Delaware County Humane Society to find homes for the animals on the property.

AW. but honey?

TONOPAH, Nev. (AP) - Several emergency responders have been stung after a flatbed truck carrying honeybees rolled over in rural Nevada.

Authorities say 66-year-old truck driver Rudy Breneman had been hauling a load of bees from Bruce, S.D., to California when he pulled to the side of the highway east of Tonopah - about 200 miles northwest of Las Vegas - on Monday afternoon.

Breneman told troopers the big rig started sinking into the soft dirt of the shoulder and eventually tipped over, breaking open many of the hives.

State troopers, sheriff's deputies and firefighters all were stung.

Trooper Wes Hubred says he was stung seven times.

Troopers say firefighters tried to contain the bees with water before beekeepers arrived.

Breneman wasn't injured in the accident and is not being cited.

Eagles QB Vick confirms he is again a dog owner

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who served 18 months in prison on dogfighting charges, has confirmed that he owns a dog.

A statement from Vick released Thursday does not identify the pet as a dog, but says that "this is an opportunity to break the cycle."

Vick says the animal "is well cared for and loved as a member of our family." He says it's his responsibility as a father to teach his children to develop a healthy relationship with animals.

Since his release, he has worked with The Humane Society of the United States to speak out against animal cruelty. Vick says that commitment will continue.

The Humane Society declined to comment.

Stinky bus ride
« Reply #186 on: October 18, 2012, 04:37:52 PM »

SEATTLE (AP) - A woman is complaining to the public transit authority that a driver kicked her off a bus in Seattle because of her baby's stinky diaper.

The woman, Nichole Hakimian, tells KOMO (http://is.gd/12kPyR ) that she was taking her son to a clinic Tuesday because of his diarrhea. She says the Metro Transit driver asked her to get off because the smell was too much for everyone else on the bus.

The woman says she found a place to change the diaper and caught another bus to the clinic.

Metro spokesman Jeff Switzer says it's investigating the complaint. He says Metro's goal is to balance rider comfort and good customer service, and this may be a unique situation.

BATMAN pleads not guilty
« Reply #187 on: October 18, 2012, 04:46:56 PM »
PETOSKEY, Mich. (AP) - A northern Michigan man charged with obstructing the police while dressed as Batman has pleaded not guilty.

State troopers arrested 33-year-old Mark Wayne Williams on Sept. 29 because he wouldn't leave them alone while they searched for a driver who had fled an accident. Williams was charged with resisting and obstructing police in an investigation.

The Petoskey News-Review reports (http://bit.ly/RX0AJ8 ) that Williams pleaded not guilty Thursday in District Court in Petoskey. He's due back in court Nov. 21.

Williams has said he had good intentions.

It's not Williams' first brush with the law as the caped crusader. He was sentenced to six months of probation last year after police received a report of a man dressed as Batman on the roof of a Petoskey business.

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) - Police don't plan to cite the drivers of a truck and school bus which crashed in western Pennsylvania.

But only because neither vehicle had a driver when they wrecked.

Police in Patterson Township tell the Beaver County Times (http://bit.ly/UBPOwQ ) the incident happened just before 10 a.m. Tuesday when the parked bus began to roll down a hill. Police aren't sure why that happened, because the driver had engaged the parking brake.

The bus rear-ended a parked truck, which also began rolling down the hill alongside the bus, until the truck flipped onto its side. The bus continued on, shearing off one utility pole and hitting another before rolling to a stop a few feet from the porch of a home.

Nobody was hurt.

Patterson Township is about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Bank robber allowed to keep the money

http://now.msn.com/otto-neuman-an-austrian-bank-robber-gets-to-keep-cash-he-stole-19-years-ago

Seems robbing banks these days IS profitable.

Since the insurance company paid off the bank for it's losses the robber was allowed to keep whatever money he had left of his haul.

I guess some one's got to get it. =)) =)) =))

Bloody Zombie DUI
Police called for shot woman find Halloween zombie

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Police in Alabama were called to what looked like a woman shot dead in her car but found a Halloween reveler they described as drunk and passed out in a bloody-looking zombie costume.

The news site Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/SrbNCn) that a passerby called 911 in Birmingham on Thursday morning after seeing the woman slumped over her steering wheel at a traffic light.

Police say officers roused the woman and removed her from the SUV. Authorities say she was handcuffed and taken to the city jail on a DUI charge.

A photo of the woman by al.com showed fake blood covering much of her torso as she was apprehended.

Details on her identity weren't immediately available.

Woman who drove on sidewalk must wear 'idiot' sign

CLEVELAND (AP) - A woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children will have to stand at an intersection wearing a sign warning about idiots.

Court records show a Cleveland Municipal Court judge on Monday ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week. She will have to wear a sign saying: "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."

The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. both days.

Hardin's license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.

Messages seeking comment were left at a telephone listing for Hardin and at her attorney's office.

Thanksgiving Dinner Sentence
Ohio driver sentenced to fix dinner for police

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - A judge in Ohio sentenced a careless driver to fix Thanksgiving dinner for three police officers on leave or unable to work.

The sentence was handed down Monday in Canton to 46-year-old Valerie Rodgers of Tuscarawas (tus-kuh-RAW'-uhs) Township.

She also was placed on probation for one year for knocking over a police officer while he was directing traffic during the Canton Marathon.

The (Canton) Respository (bit.ly/SPYcVt) reports the driver pleaded guilty last month to felony assault and three misdemeanors.

Her attorney says she was confused by the traffic situation and panicked.

 (Uh, confused?) :surrender:
