"dear dr. Donohue"
« on: October 06, 2011, 08:02:55 AM »
this is a column that runs in my paper along with a lot of other newspapers. some of ytou have inquired into what is going on with my back, and of course some of you couldnt care less which is ok also. anyway if you get this column, usually next to the comics you might want to check out what he has to say about fibromyalgia. this is whats going on along with scoliosis, arthritis and a busted 11th vertabrae.
if for no other reason you may want to read it just so you know what fibromyalgia is.

Wife's niece has arthritis and, now, scoliosis.
Diagnosed with arthritis at the age of two, scoliosis at the age of twelve.  She wears a brace.

Best Wishes

Regular jabs and health checks, monitoring, that kind of stuff.   She also has the advantage of coming from a reasonably well off background, and by living in Britain (so her parents don't have to worry about paying bills).

Well, I looked thru today's paper, and there was NO Mr Donahue there. There was Dear Abby, Mr Fix It, How to carve a pumpkin, someone who will strip and polish my floors, but NO Mr Donahue. :boooo: :boooo: :boooo:

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

Jeez, 5m is a LOT of people.

I have found the thing about any life threatening\debilitating illness is that it's just another story until it hits YOUR family.  Then everyone seems to know everything about that condition.

Charity donations I find goes the same way.  Sophie's parents and grandparents do a monthly pay to some arthritis charity, including sourcing all their Christmas cards.  We do the same for Alzheimer's - my dad has vascular dementia.

such a 'minor " league type problem but its devastating. no matter what age you are, you are not going to be able to do stuff you should be able to do. the one that threw me into a serious round of depression was a few weeks ago i couldn't tear the aluminum foil seal off a can of coffee. i mean come on , how lame is that?
it could always be worse, theres lots and lots and lots of things that go wrong but that doesn't lessen the impact.
juvenile diabetes and juvenile arthritis i think are particularly heinous as it hits folks when they re so young and they haven't had a chance to go through the trials and tribulations of growing up yet.
