Just finally noticed the elbow to the back that drove McDonagh into the boards.

Now I understand your statement Rambo

Rambo,

What that the guy who boarded McDonaugh in OT ??

I watched that several times in replay and realize in was a penalty,  but what determined the severity of that penalty ??  Is boarding now the equivalent of a hit to the helmet in the NFL.

I did not understand the 5 and 10 call.  Can you enlighten me ??

Thanks.

Ferrence is the bruin. The determining factor is if player is in a defenseless position near the boards(he was) and is hit from behind putting the player hit from behind a dangerous play that may or not result in an injury of some sort(serious or not). The offending player(ferrence) gets no credit if the player he hits is not hurt seriously just the fact that he could be. Automatic major and game misconduct and in most cases suspension(should be in this case). Not quite sure what the additional 10 was for unless he was mouthing off to the refs also afterward. A shame as it put a damper on a great game between the two. the rangers show once again they are FOR REAL. =D> =D> =D>

Definitely an ugly play and he'll likely be suspended for it. I'm not sure he meant for that to happen, I don't think it was dirty, but it was absolutely a penalty and suspension worthy.  I was sure that if that game went to the shootout even with Hank the Rangers were going down having blown a 4-3 penalty for 3 minutes but alas Gaborik comes through again.  Great gritty tough effort from the Blue Shirts.  Just a joy to watch a team that's worth rooting for take the ice every week.

One more time....the Rangers, losers of 3 of their last 4, head into Boston with a chance to revert to years gone by form and start a stretch of losing and struggling.

Boston, the best in the East, succumbs to the "new will" Rangers in OT.

a great game...well played...and a TREMENDOUS VICTORY.

I have said it before, these are NOT the Rangers of yore.

They are driven, consistent, and play great fundamental hockey.

What a delight for all of us lifelong Ranger fans.

Yes these are not the Rangers of yore, yes it was a great win, yes they are a delight to watch. However I came away with some concern(s). I saw this game as a measuring stick, and this is what I learned. The Bruins are an excellent team with speed, size and skill. There were too many instances where the Rangers were running around a bit in their own zone. The puck at times stayed in the Ranger zone too long. They gave up too many odd man rushes. At times the Bruins were the team constantly in motion while the Rangers were reacting. I/M/O as it stands now the Rangers would not win a 7 game series against this team. Something I've noticed the last two weeks is that teams have been able to break out of their own zone a little too easily. Have they figured out how to breakdown the Ranger's forecheck? What I want to see is a blanket forecheck against everyone. I love this team, the way they play, the resilience, toughness, composure, the ways they find to win games. Yes they are leading the East and now tied with the Blackhawks for most points. There is something that needs to be added, and it's up front. It's that star, that overall leader, their version of Messier. The guy that they can all rally around. Cups are not won, they are taken. Taken by the team that wants it the most, that wills it. No I'm not Torts, but I understand where he is coming from. That's why Dolan is such a jerk by opening his mouth.

I think the Blueshirts got caught lookin' forward to the tilt vs. dah Bruins on Thurs. vs. Penquins.

We really aren't playing our best puck (as the hip kids say) lately. The effort today showed we r for real. Our PP still needs plenty of work though. Richards, Cally, Dubie, Boyle need to pick up their O production.

The hit on McDonough was a cheap shot from behind. The case can be made, that it was a deliberate attempt to injure by Ferrance.
NHL'ers know full well when a guy is or isn't defenceless from behind, as they head into the Boards. They either let up, our drive the guy into the Boards as Ferrance chose to do. U could end a guy's career or cause serious injury if he lands just right. The player receiving the Check, can't protect himself. He's being hit directly from behind in his back & has no chance to take precautionary action before awkwardly striking the Boards.
Hence the description "Defenceless"

They need to add a scoring winger or a point man on the PP with a big shot.  They will not go far in the playoffs with that PP.  But I am confident Sather will make a move at the trade deadline.

The King stands on his head tonite with ANOTHER shutout...and Rangers reap 3 out of 4 points in back to back road games

It would be real nice if they could get Richards scoring..godd player...positive addition...but at 12 million we definitely need more from him.

But for now, we are the BEST in the East.

Rangers lead the daily double controlling the Flyers to go 4-0 in the season series.  The King is on the way to an

NHL record 9th consecutive year of 30 plus wins.

But now looky who is the hot team in the NHL....the Devils, this is going to get just more interesting.

Fortunately Hank owns the Devils.

A very nice weekend sweep against the Flyers and Caps.

If Henrik does not garner SERIOUS MVP consideration, then the award is truly worthless.

As well as this still young team has progressed and bought totally into TORTS...the King is the X factor that has them atop the standings.

77 points and it is just mid-February....simply an amazing leap in performance.

No trades...they just let this play out.

I've been waiting for them to start to falter a bit, something like playing close to .500 for a stretch and this team keeps disappointing me(LOL). I feel though that an ingredient is missing. Something akin to when the Islanders traded for Butch Goring and off they went.

The rangers need another offensive weapon. Question is does sather go out and trade for one or wait for kreider once bc is eliminated. I hope unless he rips somebody off again he waits for kreider.

I don't see the Rangers adding more than a 3rd line player who is solid at faceoffs, like Paul Gaustad or Travis Moen. The thing is that there aren't many top offensive players on the market. Tuomo Ruutu is probably the best offensive player and reports out of Carolina are that they either want a 1st round pick (which he is not worth) or they will keep him and re-sign him. Of course Bobby Ryan would be AMAZING but 1. we don't know if he is still on the market and 2. we would have to give up A LOT for him and it might ruin the chemistry this team has.

Another weapon would be great, but even if they just have to ride out the season with this group I wouldn't be too upset.  This team loves playing with each other and they're having a ton of success.  I was at the Bruins game last night and Boston was out-matched.  Obviously the King had a lot to do with it, and he was flat out remarkable last night, but the way they play defense and the season Hank is having, this team can absolutely make a deep run into the playoffs.  It's been a good long time since us Ranger fans had any reason for excitement but this group is providing just that.
