JPP's play
« on: November 30, 2011, 12:26:59 PM »
I've read numerous quotes in NY papers from Giants players looking for answers to the latest swoon.  The answer is right in front of them.  I would tell all the players to go watch a tape of the Saints game and focus on JPP.  The guy gives 100 percent every down until the whistle blows.  How many can look in the mirror and say the same???

No doubt about it, the two players playing their heart out for this team are JPP and Prince

Based on JPP's apparently limited football acumen which labeled him a "project", maybe he doesn't understand the Fewell scheme and is more successful b/c of it.

I came away impressed with his performance Monday night.  He was the only getting even marginal pressure (Tuck a couple of times too) but he was hustling down the back ends of plays.  If he doesn't make the tackle on the fake FG the score might have been worse.  Very poised for a second year guy.  I was also impressed with Victor Cruz.  Despite a drop he had a great game, and unlike Brandon Jacobs, who is a bonehead, Cruz knew not to celebrate with his salsa dance with his team down by so large a margin.

JPP is a stud and if they would just get him off dt (which should happen now that osi out again) and back to de he should pick up sack wise where he left off earlier in the season.

Has moving the DE's to DT on passing down's had any success for us this season?

I think Strahan and a healthy Tuck were the difference makers when it worked.

moving a DE to DT points out to me that we aren't getting enough pressure from our DTs, I know we want to get our best players on the field but putting a player out of position might not be the best idea...

I tried to vote JPP into the ProBowl and he's not even on the ballet!  Same with Cruz.  Unbelievable how a big market team based in the largest city can get so marginalized.

Not necessarily.  What it tells me is that the Giants wanted to start Osi and Tuck at the DEs.  If they want to get JPP on the field as well, they had no choice but to use him at DT.  Can you imagine Osi crying a river to the press if they benched him in favor of JPP?  His athleticism can best be utilized at DE and that is where JPP belongs.

The pro bowl is a popularity contest.  You watch, Cam Newton will get more votes than Eli.

Of course it is and that's why it's become a joke nobody cares about anymore. Giants fans are just as guilty as everyone else. Unless you believe tons of Texans, Seahawks, Pats etc. etc. fans thought O'Hara was a pro bowl player last season there's only one explanation why he was. Dopey Giant fans that contributed to the joke.

Eli will probably be our only pro bowl rep but he is competing for the 3rd QB spot behind Rodgers and Brees with the likes of Romo, Ryan and Vick.  If Eli played in the AFC he's easily make a team that will be so thin at QB that a plummeting Ryan Fitzpatrick could be chosen.

Don't forget that the DT that was causing the greatest sensation in training camp was Austin who's been hurt the entire season.  I've got to think that his combo of strength and speed will help our interior DLine a lot.

I also agree about JPP.  He plays to the whistle.  His motor never stops.  Osi and Tuck seem like they want to be on Sportcenter clips or making commercials.

I complained about this earlier.  The NFL is basically TELLING you who to vote for now.  What a sham.

JPP is going to be a great player in this league. When you combine great talent with great desire, it's a formula for great success.
