Gmo, I'll take a different tack on this one. Tuck got caught on film lying on the ground while the play was still alive. Fewell jumped on him big-time. I saw Osi get caught up in the trash & lose contain (no news flash there) on a sweep to his side. As the RB turned the corner up field, Osi turned in pursuit. Only thing, Osi was running 1/2 speed (likely expecting someone to make the tackle). Problem being, nobody made the tackle. The RB finally got taken down some 30 yards downfield.  Pathetically funny, the camera had Osi in frame the entire run in pursuit @ 1/2 speed.

JPP always hustles, never quits. Kiwi is much the same. Although Tolley is less talented, his tac is always in the red. Tuck & Osi were just caught goin' through the motions one too many times. Carl Banks mentioned how double teams & chips on the DE shouldn't prevent a pass rush.

If they don't help prevent a pass rush why do offenses continually do that to the other team's biggest pass rushing threat on a weekly basis?  And further, how could getting all of your forward momentum suddenly stopped NOT inhibit a pass rushers ability to beat his blocker and go forward into the QB.  That just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.   I'm can't speak to the play in question, but if Osi was the only player on that defense dogging it then there are way more problems than we thought because it seemed to me just about everybody was dogging it last week.  Except JPP who admittedly played his ass off.

Agree with the JPP & "dogging it" perspective of our killer D (they were killin' me & u I suspect) vs. Saints.
The point I was trying to make is, that u don't concede the block/play on a double team or chip block as a DE. Strahan & Lenny Marshall fought through double (sometimes triple) team blocks to get a piece of the QB by simply not quitting on the play.
Time to get the fatcats off the field (D & O) & replace them with guys that show heart.

That's certainly true, but Michael Strahan was a transcendent HOF player.  Guys like him don't come along very often.  He's one of the best two-way DEs in NFL history.  I think if we're holding our current troops to that standard they can't help but fail.  That's no excuse for the lack of fight and effort they've displayed over the past couple weeks of course, you don't have to be a superstar to give an effort, but as far as fighting through constant double and triple teams there aren't too many guys that can do that with regularity in my opinion.  And yes, that piss poor effort last week had me fuming.  I figured they'd lose to the Saints, but I thought they'd at least give it an all out effort.  And it was pretty clear to me that that defense gave the minimal effort possible.
