(First post!)

I feel like the draw was an audible. The replay showed the cowboys were really out-manned on that side. It looked bad because Diehl got beaten pretty badly, and Petrus didn't know who to block.

I like the fade play to Nicks a lot. Not sure why we did it twice in a row though.

That inside draw from the shotgun hasn't worked since 08.

We needed to run at least 1 of those first 2 plays unless the first pass went for a td. We never run first and goal inside the 5

Crappy play calling.  We're getting deep in the RZ, but not picking up maximum points.  Unacceptable.

EXECUTION!

Poor pass blocking and dropped balls (Beckhum stopped running on HIS fade!) in the RZ

Kudos, Andrew. An excellent first post. You are quite right in suggesting that the draw play to Ware on 3rd and goal at the four was an audible. If someone wants to criticize the play call- favorite activity around here as you will discover- then he has to lay it on Eli who quite obviously checked to it. But even so, it wasn't a bad call just badly executed by both Diehl and Petrus who got beat by Ware and by Brooking, respectively.

For some folks any play which doesn't succeed is a bad call, and must have been Gilbride's fault. They wouldn't be happy if it was any other way. It's encouraging to have you provide an unbiased alternative.  For that, among other things, a hearty welcome to you.

Cheers!

While not crazy about 2 fades in a row....

on the 2nd one, what about BARDEN...who is 6'6" and has shown a propensity to fight for the ball.

Can someone please explain to me the logic of going shotgun in the red zone?

All we are doing is telegraphing to the defense that it will more than likely be a pass play.

With our running game finally showing some life, we could still throw the fade pass off of play-action.

Taking the snap from under center allows play action, draw or a regular running play . . . why not make the defense guess what our intentions are?

Let me also extend a hearty welcome Andrew. We have an exceelent board here, as you will see if you hang around for a while.

And if Painter says you are OK, then it's alright in my book.
I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

Welcome Andrew

As for the play calling I could picture on of the assistant coaches or players asking Gilbride "Coach another fade?  The first time didn't work, shouldn't we try something different?"  and Gilbride answering:

Airplane - That's just what They'll be expecting Us to do
