Am I the only one getting sick of Jacobs' actions??
« on: December 12, 2011, 06:50:19 PM »
BJ brings some needed energy to our team, but at what expense?? By the grace of the ridiculous refs, he didn't get a flag last week for not knowing when to shut his trap. His celebrations are excessive, and his dancing on the Cowpuke Star was great, but why make a spectacle of yourself and maybe do more harm than good. How would our team feel is some opponent danced on our insignia to celebrate something.
Again, I'm all for the enthusiasm he brings, the energy he brings, but I am also sick of his antics, his continual mouthing off and prolonged celebrations.

Am I just too old fashioned.

Any other opinions??/
I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

And there it is.  We can't have it both ways.  We say this team lacks fire and emotion and plays like they don't give a crap, and then we have one guy who actually plays with all of those things and we hate him for it.  I'd take 10 players on my team just like Jacobs.  At least he cares.  And the way he's been screwed the last couple of years, we could have heard a lot more out of him as far as complaining and really he's only had one public complaint and that was the end of it.  When he and Bradshaw split the carries evenly, the running game, and this team is better.  And part of it is because the team feeds off of his emotion.  You know why I don't care how and where he dances?  Because if he's dancing, that means he's just scored 6 points.  That, to me, is the most important thing.

Couldn't disagree more.  Act like you've been there before.

I'm tired of it too.  I'm tired of any player acting like a jagoff, Jacobs, D. Jackson, etc.  It's disrespectful.

His 100 yard performance will never grow old and he didn't draw a flag.

GMo-Couldn't agree more. Maybe his celebrations are a little over the top, but I love his fire and intensityand wish it were contagious.  Ironic that fans want more of this kind of energy and then are unhappy when we see it. I don't agree that it brings more harm than good.

Does Cruz bring some energy when he scores a TD. Fans love his little Salsa dance, and he doesn't run around trying to shove the ball down his opponents mouth. Playing with fire and energy are one thing. I love that part of him on the field, but must he act like an jerk for every 1st down he gets. Every Time some one even tackles him, he had to get up and stare the guy down, or say something to him.
dancing in the end zone is one thing, showing up your opponent is another. Again, maybe it's me, but if I were the opponent, it would just make me want to try harder to get back at him. There is celebrating and there is antagonizing, and I believe Jacobs just goes over the top too many times.

Ah, the many faces of Brandon Jacobs.

- Loved the way he bowled over opponents.
- Get your popcorn ready - Smashing the ball into the playclock in Dallas was a classic
- Not a fan of the boxing.  Would like to see him fight a Sikahema type to see if it real or show
- The handling of Ralph Vacchiano's immaturity last season.  Good Man Brandon
- Prolonged pelvic thrusts in the endzone - clean it up Brandon

Too many faces to keep track of.  IMO, if he runs hard, I love the guy.  When he tip toes, I'm not a fan.

+1 As for the celebrations...they are all dumb IMO but it's part of the new football world order. I've seen a lot worse than Brandon. And if you don't want opponents dancing on your emblem, don't put the friggin star in the endzone. =))

I'm just pleased to see the guy playing hardnose football again.   Jeez, he was even cutting out wide as well as N\S AND making significant yardage and due, partly, to better lane creation by the Oline.

I wish more would be like Manningham - when he scores you don't have to cover the kid's eyes.

Lenny, I don't like celebration at all. There is a quiet dignity to just putting a knee on the ground and bowing your head.

I don't really have any problem with Jacobs' dance as long as it doesn't warrant a flag.  Kids can already see a lot worse on television than a grown man pumping his hips.  At one point in history, Elvis Presley shaking and gyrating was considered obscene by many, and many considered the final line of Gone With the Wind, "I don't give a damn", scandalous.

Can anyone tell me what the hell he is actually DOING in his dance?  If it were just his hips I might be inclined to agree it was sexual but he gets some arm action going in there as well.

I've been tired of the dance for a while. I'd prefer a loud yell and a hard spiking. He probbably ran someone over while scoring so continue the physical assault on the football as well. Then turn and run to the Giant's sideline. Keep the mean and be respectful at the same time.
