Super Bowl XLII?

Amazing that you are dignifying such a ludicrous question with a response that should be obvious to anyone.

Does anyone else remember the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he's playing baseball and playing every position by himself? Well, the Giants should do that with JPP. He seems to be the only one out there playing hard on defense. Although, the Giants probably wouldn't have the same results as BB did.

Next 2 games are a referendum on Eli. He takes care of the ball = Giants in playoffs; he doesn't = Giants out. Need I remind how small he plays in HUGE games?
Respectfully, I would have to disagree on a couple of fronts.

these games are a referendum on this whole TEAM and the extent to which it might get blown up personnel wise (especially defensively).

The last BIG game I remember Eli coming up small was probably the Carolina playoff loss at home , what was that....5 years ago.

Eli has been a nice, progressive elevation of his QB play every year...this year he has stepped up to the elite level ( no pun intended)...his accuracy this year leaves me speechless, especially the deep sideline pattern.  His play is the ONE thing I never worry about, much like Simms at a similar stage of his career.  We are in the best hands possible in that department.

Now the rest of it does always worry me, but NOT Eli.

"A referendum on Eli"?  Um...

Nah, I'm just going to let this one pass...

The Jets are using a picture of a bloodied Eli (courtesy of the Jets last preseason) as motivation.  It's probably meaningless but it does remind me that our offense has not done well against the Jets since the Fat Man took over.  I think it will be up to our defense to pull this one out.

If I'm Eli, I'm showing that to my offensive line to use it as motivation as well.

I would think that the game is will be on the defense.  If the defense plays well Eli will not be under as much pressure to make something happen.  Less pressure = less turnovers

I wouldn't put too much stock in preseason performances, Jimmy.

This should be a hard fought game for both teams.

They blitz because they have a weak line. Eli should be able to find the one on one and the mismatches and kill them all day. I would bring in Linemen as the TE's and one lone or no backs with three- four receivers. Bradshaw should have a good day receiving. I wouldn't count on Beckum to block. If Bear can play ok.

They were pre season games, I put little meaning into them.  What I look at is the Giants performance 2 weeks ago in Dallas since the Cowboys run a similar defense that the Jets do.  I think the Giants will be able to move the ball on the Jets defense.  What I worry about is the Giants defense and their lack of penetration at the LOS that they've had all season.

Rob Ryan has admittedly been a little gun shy of late.  In concept the two defenses should be similar.  In practice they're not.  I look for this to be a defensive battle provided our defense shows up.

Jet corners are better but the Jets lack a Ware type player.

True and they always have which is why they rely so much on the blitzing.

Aside from scheme the Jets do seem to be a more physical group than the Cowboys who've always been a little soft.
