Steve - a player shouldn't need the reputation or pelts of a coach to decide to play defense.  That's ridiculous.  I've been saying this on this board since the trade went down that I thought it was the stupidest thing the Knicks could do.  They gave up a nucleus of young, improving players who were playing as a TEAM for a player who only does one thing - isolation so he can drive or shoot a jumper.  He doesn't pass well.  He plays zero defense.  He shoots way too many shots at the expense of passing to open teammates.  Look at how poorly Amare is playing.  His signature pick and roll has disappeared as the ball is going through Anthony.  Landry Fields has regressed.  Toney Douglas has regressed.  The Knicks gave up draft picks.  Now the Knicks are again where they were before - a broken team and over the cap with no draft picks.  Everybody keeps saying that the Knicks haven't had enough time to practice.  That doesn't seem to be hurting the Nuggets who brought in other guys like Fernandez so they've got a pretty new team yet they are coming together just fine.

We don't have a point guard. Period. End of discussion. Better PG play makes everyone better, especially in D'Antoni's system.

Putting all our eggs in the Baron Davis basket is a risky proposition, to say the least. D'Antoni better hope this does the job or he'll be out of his.

We had a very serviceable point guard who also happened to be young and who seemed to work well with our best player at that time, Amare.  Oh, we traded him.

I think it's ridiculous for folks to say D'Antoni's job is on the line.  He's had to coach through how many team transformations just to get to this spot?  That's not on him.  I like him but don't love his indifference to defense.

Phil, I know you don't think the 'Melo trade was a good one - hard to argue right now - but Dolan and the FO think it was. The Chandler signing raised the stakes even higher. The guy that hired D'Antoni in the first place is gone.

All due respect, I think it's naive to think that his job isn't on the line if this team doesn't turn it around. Doesn't mean it's right, it is what it is.

Chris - I do think D'Antoni's job is on the line and I think that's wrong.

Not disagreeing with you, Phil. I felt the same way about TC as recently as a month ago.

I don't have the antipathy towards D'Antoni that some of our fellow Knicks fans do. I think he's a good coach. I thought the Woodson hiring was a good move at the time, showing a committment to D heretofore unseen by him. We'll see what happens.

I hope Davis running the show cures some of what ails this team right now.

Just settling down to watch the Knicks at Boston.  Who should I be watching out for playing for NY?

Ha,  well normally I would say .   Carmelo Anthony,  Amare Stodomaire ,  Schumbert the rookie and Chandler the new guy .   Sadly the team has been playing like crap.  They're like Dallas... All the talent just horrible planning and turnovers are killer.  They played well last light in the 2nd half but since they committed an enormous amount of Turnovers it was hard to comeback from that.   Boston has been so,so lately.   I'm thinking 102-98 either or.

Win with Lin!!   This kids an engine.    Minus Amare and Melo Knicks played a good game.   Hope Lins play is not a fluke.   Handful of our boys in blue were there..  Cool to see.

The Knicks were headed in the right direction until last February when they started the Scott Layden (sp?) era again.

Haha,  so far so good.   This kid seems legit.  Let's see how he does against the Spanish Version of Nash. mr. Rubio .

Novak Dropping 3's.  Carmelo playing Defense.  It's crazy. Sucks about STAT but I'm loving the way this team runs now.
