Is there any chance Brewer gets a chance at LT?  What is the deal with Stacey Andrews?

Is Brewer viewed as a long-term project and in a depth role?  That was what I had heard early in teh season, but I have not heard much since.

There's also Tony Ugoh.  Although he apparently missed a block on a Tynes FG attempt that was blocked.

Diehl outplayed Beatty at Left Tackle this year.  Whether or not he deserves to win this meaningless award is arbitrary to the point.  The point being he's the best left tackle currently on the roster.  Do I think he will start at guard next year?  Absolutely not.  He was a disaster inside this year, and to be fair so was Snee for most of the season.  But I want no part of him going inside.  However if you told me that Diehl was the starter at Left Tackle next season, because as usual the Giants neglected the position in the first 3 rounds, then I'd be happier about that than if anybody else was manning the position.  And even if the Giants did spend a 1st rounder on a LT, as a rookie, there's no guarantee that kid is any better than Diehl either.  He's not a disaster as a LT.  He could be better, he could be worse, but he's the best this team has and they are currently in the Super Bowl so he has to be doing something right.

Agreed.

whales, far as I know Brewer is strictly a RT. Big, mean, & surprising agile for his size 6' - 6" 325 lbs. He's a real road grader. He got nicked up early in Camp (soft tissue), so he got limited work in Pre. That & no Off-season work really set him back as a Rook OL. If I had to guess, I don't think JR brings Kareem back. His drop in play this year has been dramatic. Go figure, he's comin' off one of his best years with us? Tough to get Intel on Brewer. I think that RT is his job to lose next year. A full Off-season, Camp, & Pre should have Brewer poised to take over from Kareem.

Brewer played ORT in college.  JR stated that he had "left tackle feet", but he really is better suited at ORT.  Former Scout Russ Lande Jr. of The Sporting News/GM Jr. felt that Brewer could start his rookie year.  So we will see.

Beatty only lost his job due to injury .. not to lack of performance.  So he will be the starting OLT next year. The whole idea is to get your team younger, not older, at positions.  Especially one that was pathetic this year.

The reality is that none of us know what the Giant' brass is thinking.  But being dead last in rushing offense just can't sit well with them.  Bringing everyone back at what is probably the worst unit on the entire team just doesn't make any sense to me.  But we will see.

In the meantime, I will predict a guard in Round 1 or 2 and a swing tackle in either those Rounds or mid-Rounds.  The Giants have to rebuild this offensive line in addition to RB, LB and S.

I just don't see how you can condemn the team for having the worst running attack in the league then ignore the fact that once Beatty went down with an injury it magically went from pathetic to mediocre.  I'm sorry but Diehl played better than Beatty once he got in there at LT.  At guard he was a nigihtmare, no question about it, but at tackle he has been much better.  And yes, Beatty lost his job due to injury and had he not been hurt they may well have stuck with him the whole season based on him winning the job in camp, but if he had gotten healthy after a couple of solid performances from Diehl, after how painful Diehl was at guard, I'm not so sure he would have gotten that job back.  Just like I would not be surprised in the least if Diehl is the starting LT again next year.  He may not be the best in the NFL, but he's good enough to get a team to the Super Bowl with.
