Have the Giants talked too much?
« on: February 03, 2012, 06:46:10 AM »
Between Canty, JPP and others this Giant team has been running their mouths all week similar the way the Pats were 4 years ago.  This has me very worried because this has been a team in the Tom Coughlin era that has thrived on other teams doing the talking.  This is a game the Giants should win but if they take the Pats lightly they will definitely lose.

I'm not sure how you could take a team led by Belichick and Brady lightly.  These guys are two of the best to ever do their jobs.  Coughlin and Eli should aspire to be in their category when its all said and done.  Sure, I'd prefer they didn't start yapping about parades and all that but unlike 4 years ago these teams are relatively even.  There is no disrespect being thrown in either direction.  There is no scoffing at "oh we're only score 20 points?  Ok."  Nothing like that.  These teams know they're evenly matched and that whoever plays better on Sunday will be World Champs.  That should be motivation enough for everybody.

Yes. The Giants play their best football when no one gives them a chance. The games people thought they should win they lost. After the fact the NE win was the only regular season win against a good team.

We'll know if the Giants were way too cocky or just brimming with confidence after Sunday. JPP had prediction before that did not bite home in the ars, let's hope he'll keep it that way.

GO GiANTS!!!!

I don't know if they talked too much.   These guys have had to answer reporters questions for most of the week.  It gets tough to not say you have confidence in yourself and your team at some point.

Absolutely, it's just talk on both sides.  As I said in another thread, I doubt these players are paying very much attention to what the other players are saying.  I seriously doubt the Giants or Patriots players are over confident about this game.  Each team knows how they got here.

The Patriots, IMO, are not the powerhouse people thought they were in past seasons, they've had some luck in getting here themselves.  The Giants are a division winner that needed plenty of help to get to that end.  But, they're both in the game and that's all that matters.  If any player needs motivation from what a player on the other team says to get ready for this game, then they are in the wrong profession.

And, with your new Tatoo (where is the picture?) and my not shaving the beard until after the game, that's all they really need. Plus my lucky shirt. Oh yes, the hat. Then there is the lucky socks and the Tuck jersey.

Coach Tom Coughlin was asked if his team is overconfident. "I know there's been one or two quotes but it's no worse than Tom Brady's," Coughlin said, referencing Brady's suggested guarantee at the Patriots departure rally. "Humble enough to prepare," Coughlin added, "confident enough to perform."

Osi hasn't

LOL Ed, it appears we all have our lucky charms for the game.  The impetuous tattoo pics will have to wait until after the game.  My family doesn't know about them yet, the 'unveiling' will be just before game time Sunday night.  We're hoping our sons and family won't think we've totally lost our minds.  Pics to follow for those interested.   ;)

Actually, I was contemplating the same thing for quite a while now. Talk about synchronicity.
