I don't think the Giants are saying anything that the Patriots aren't saying.  Brady told the send-off crowd to get ready for a party as well.  It's just talk.

I would rather they give boring interviews.  I appreciate that they're confident, but it only takes one big win to go from "confident but not cocky" to "New York Jets".

Quote
Said Coughlin: “I haven’t seen anything that I would be upset about. I’ve seen some of the statements in the past where I’ve tried to corral the player and make him understand what significance that may have played or not played. But the players have a pretty good idea of what we expect of them.

“I think that, for the most part, they’ve done a pretty good job.”

Coach says they're fine, then I'm fine.   :ok:

I really don't think the players from either team are really paying too much attention to what the other guys are saying.  If a player really needs "bulletin board" material to motivate him to play this game, maybe he needs to find another profession anyway.
Go Red, Grey and Blue !!

Coach Tom Coughlin was asked if his team is overconfident. "I know there's been one or two quotes but it's no worse than Tom Brady's," Coughlin said, referencing Brady's suggested guarantee at the Patriots departure rally. "Humble enough to prepare," Coughlin added, "confident enough to perform."

Between the talking and everyone picking the Giants I am feeling uneasy about this game.  The Giants should win this game but they could definitely lose the game if they are off their game in every way.  If that were to happen I think things could get very ugly in the media and with the fan base.

I won't even go as far to say the Giants SHOULD win this game. I think its a toss-up. I think they both match up well against each other.  I think there will be a lot of scoring and the game will be in doubt until the last drive.  I hope the fan base does not get too upset with a loss.  I know I would be proud of the fight they put up in the playoffs and win or lose, I will be very happy with this season.  Of course I want a win, but I think this team is one that can compete for years with some good young players in the WR and QB positions, and JPP to keep the defense built around.

I keep saying that we're playing with house money, so if we lose, it's still been a GREAT run.  But, for the first few houirs after the game, I'll be devastated.  Then, when the sun comes up Monday, I'll go back to realizing it HAS been a great run.

This is all fodder for the media and doesn't matter at all whether someone is "disrespected" or whatever in Steven A. Smith terms in terms of the outcome. It's the Twitter age. Humbleness is long gone for the most part. I wish our players would just shut up, but it's just confidence overflowing, really. Why not? It's unjustified? They beat them before, broke their 20-game streak at home, and expect to win. I have no problem with that. It's about execution, not perceived insults ultimately.

The media is "prisoner of the moment" bound to exploit nothingness. Game time is all that counts.

Well said. Of course, most fans are fickle and not as centered as you.

For me it all depends, play your hearts out and I can live the result, win or loss, nomater what.....piss away an opportunity with lack of focus, dumb mistakes, no energy and un inspired football and I suspect I will always see it as missed opportunity.

Listening to WFAN a good part of the day, many of the people who have come on, say they feel the Giants MAY be a bit overconfident. Of course no one knows, but I just wish no one would be saying anything about anything and just go out and play. I simply do not understand the need to announce the parade route, to announce that Brady was scared the first time they played, that this is our destiny type of thing. What does all this get you but a enemy that just gets more and more ticked off listening to these comments. And don't say they don't listen. It has probably been tweeted to them as soon as the comments were made. All teams look for additional motivation, so why supply it.

I wonder if the 'old' TC would have been comfortable with some of these things. Plus, what else can TC say now. he sure doesn't want to upset any of his guys.

I remember in 07, Brady kind of dismissing the Giants as just a pebble on their road to immortality. He wasn't bragard about it, but did sort of lean that way, and I'm sure, several of the players felt the same way. Do the Giants really feel as if they are unbeatable now, and cannotlose this game, as they have beaten the best the NFC had to offer??> I sure hope not, but they sure sound that way now.

There is a difference between being confident and just being a big mouth. Ask the Jets, they know all about it. Ask the Iggles, they also know all about it.

Shut up already and talk after you win.
I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

I agree with both quotes and have been saying the same things. GO GIANTS!!!
