Finley is a free agent and only 24. The pack will probably franchise him but if not I would love to take a shot

I have watched every game finley has ever played in.  That guy drops a ton of passes.  IF TC felt this could be resolved than so be it.  But that guy is a number machine but kills you in the biggest times.

Yeah I think he led the league in drops for a TE but he's still young and something that could be fixed.

we have a stable of young LBers who are coming along and maybe just need a summer camp and some OTAs to be very good.

The Giants will take the highest rated player who is not a Quarterback, punter or kicker.  I would not be suprised by a pick from any position really.

IMO Boley, Williams, are the only two LB that really stand out moving forward.  Chase seems to always make plays and is an anchor for the defense, I can see him sticking around too.   Goff is a FA and a huge ????   Anyone else is competition to see if any cream can rise to the top.  Picking a LB is just as sound as picking O line, rb, safety, corner back, and TE.

I find this to be an interesting situation.  What if we have under contract or re-signed Webster, Ross, Thomas and Prince as our four CBs plus have Phillips, Rolle and Grant at safety?  That looks the beginnings of a very fine secondary, especially when you look at how much better they played over the past 6 games.  Maybe the idea of Rolle as a hybrid LB becomes more reality.  With the game becoming so pass heavy, having four CBs like that may be the defensive shift that has been needed for while.  I think Prince will be a completely different player next season with a full offseason to study and a full preseason to prepare.

The Giants may be looking to retire the LB position a bit more with that developing secondary plus our usual DLine.  Maybe this is the new Defense of the Near Future.

since most of us have been talking and hoping for the team to draft a top LBer for a lot of years now it appears that they just don't think that position is worth an early pick. I've heard people say that we were looking to take McClain in round one but he was gone when we got there but I haven't seen anything to really confirm this. It could also be that the huge mistake made when they took Sintim in round 2 and he flopped so badly turned them off on early LBer picks..

Ballard with a torn ACL, TE HAS to be a top priority now.

We see that the TE position has evolved into a major threat in the now pass happy NFL. We simply cannot make do with a guy who can just block and maybe go out for a pass.

As of now, I would say TE is our #1 priority.

Is Gonzalez a FA??> I would still give him a go for a year or so. He has shown he can still play, catches everything thrown his way and can help this team in the red zone. We should have signed him 2 years ago, when we basically lobbied to come to the Giants, but we had Boss emerging then. For a year or two, I would bring Gonzales in, in a heart beat.
I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

If Patrick Willis was somehow available for the Giants years back, do you really feal the Giants would have passed because "they don't think that position is worth an early pick"??  Hardly ....

After each Giant Draft - Ralph Vacchiano and Ken Palmer reveal who the Giants had on their radar in Round #1.  As beat writers, they certainly have their inside contacts.  Several years back, they stated that the Giants had Spiller as their primary pick, with Roland McClain second.  Of course, sometimes a player that the Giants had no idea would be available falls to their spot ... thus the Prince pick of last year.  But for the most part, they state in print that they do have sources inside the organization that reveals that info to them.

other than the Sintim pick I don't think the Giants have gone early for a LBer in at least 10 years, there had to be a good one there when our pick came in that amount of time wouldn't you think ?

both Rolle and I are hoping that getting the opportunity to play his natural position on a consistent basis for the first time in a Giants uniform is a reality.  He hasnt complained but he has said in passing that just once he would like to be able to play free safety which he is most comfortable with.
