Rodney Harrison calls out Gronkowski
« on: February 10, 2012, 01:26:35 PM »
Sure doesn't appear his ankle impeded his dancing. Harrison is intimating in my opinion that the high character guys on the pats arelong gone.

I honestly don't see the problem with Gronk. The team lost. OK. Did the world stop? Did someone die? Was someone murdered? No, no, and no. Just because some want to sit in their rooms and contemplate life after a tough loss, others want to party and get on with living. Good for Gronk and Matt Light and whoever else was out having a good time, even after losing the Super Bowl. Hell, it may be their last trip to the big show for the rest of their careers.

Party on!  :nanner: :boldblue:  :drunk: :Chestram:

Obviously I don't know what it feels like for a player to lose the Superbwol but I could image it would be really crappy.
I do know what it feels like to have a really crappy day at work.
He is also somewhere around 25 yo.

When I have crappy days at work, especially in my youngers days, I used to grab one of my boys and go out and blow off steam. Drink, dance, hit on chicks, etc.

I have no problem with what he did. Honestly, he is a pretty likable guy and I wouldnt mind having him on my team.

The only issue I saw in the video was him and Light dancing with their shirts off in a crowd of dudes. There didn't seem to be a woman in sight. Maybe they should have went to a straight club? Not that there is anything wrong that.

Gronk reportedly had ankle surgery on Friday.
I agree with the majority here - Rodney, keep your damn mouth shut.
Didn't somebody else say that this week as well???

Sorry, I would have a huge problem with Gronk.  Lose the biggest game of your life, and you are up on stage with your shirt off dancing hours later?  Call me old fashioned, but there is no way in hell I would be out partying after losing the SB.  When the Giants lost to the Ravens 10 years ago, I left my own SB party since I was so annoyed and didn't want to ruin it for anyone else.  I wasn't even playing and I was that upset.  If I was a Pats fan, I would be very bothered by this.

To each his own; everyone doesn't grieve the same way. We're all different - that's what makes the world go round. Kinda hard to tell someone else how to feel about losing a huge game and how to deal with it.

There's another way to look at this.  The NFL teams rely on a fan base that they develop over the years.  Many of those fans live & die with their team.  Up here in Maine, I know a lot of folks who are still grieving over the loss.  To these fans, the Patriot team is taking a BIG hit in publuic relations.  In other words, why should a Pats fan buy all the team paraphenalia, etc. when the players on the team don't care if they win or lose?  Just another way of looking at it.

It's very well known that fans are a lot more upset after losses than players are. That's just the nature of professional sports.

I don't really have an opinion on Gronk's shirtless dancing, but I find Harrison to be one of the most annoying, self-congratulatory, and inarticulate ex-jocks currently employed by the media. That Tyree catch couldn't have happened to a bigger jerk.

Looks like there are a couple of points to make. First, because players like Gronk and Light (and others) partied after the loss doesn't mean they don't care. It means they wanted to party. It means they can put it into perspective. It means that they know that life goes on and losing a Super Bowl doesn't define them. Second, those folks that are still grieving five days later probably have bigger issues to work out than Gronk's dirty dancing.

Fans do take a loss harder, especially a superbowl loss.  My nephew is a huge Pats fan, but he still can't even discuss the SB 42 loss.  He must really be devastated right now.  I have to call him this weekend.  I'd better choose my words carefully.

Fans take loses harder than players because they have no control of the outcome. The anger fans direct at players for not being as disappointed as they are is just an expression of their frustration. Players on the other hand find it easier to accept because they lived the reality of the event. For Gronkowski he knows that he left it all on the field and that the better team won. What is he supposed to do sit shiva for a week? The players that are miserable SOB's after a loss have issues IMHO. I never liked losing but I was always able to keep it in it's proper context. There are guys who end up on the IR because of a high ankle sprain during the middle of the season this guy sucked it up for his team and played through it. Anyone bitching about it is full of it. Most of them wouldn't have the guts to suffer through it no matter what they claim.

Super Bowl XXXV was my Junior year of College.  I started drinking heavily at 1:00 that day.  I don't remember most of that day and I'm glad.  Heck I remember more of Super Bowl XXI and I was only 6 back then.

Much ado about nothing, IMO.  It wouldn't surprise me or annoy me at all to find that some Giants players were doing similar things in 2000.  But that was before the 24/7 news-cycle, phone videos, twitter, etc. so who would know?

Agreed. What's he supposed to do, go sulk in a closet? Is that going to affect his play in the next game. So he went out partying after gutting it out for 4 quarters on one ankle.

Sure Rodney. I'd love to see you try to ring his bell when you were in your prime. I'd love to see that. He'd run a flat pattern right over you. Big talk when you really just need to shut up and look away. It isn't your place to have an opinion on that, or anyone else's personal life, when the season is over.
The Coach sees the glass as half full. The Media sees the glass as half empty. The Fans can't understand why we have a glass that is twice as big as it needs to be.
