Copying video's from u=tube
« on: May 16, 2012, 12:13:54 PM »

I asked this on the main board and got no response, so here goes over here.

There was a u-tube video on the main board, subject the Giants Super Bowl run. I wanted to download it and make a copy for my son. I downloaded it using Real Player, burned it on a DVD but it won't play on any of my DVD players in my home.
How can I make a copy of this video from U-Tube and be able to play it on my DVD player??> Is this possible???
I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

Well Lenn, I am no expert on this but I have messed with similar issues before, so here is my best guess so be kind if I am wrong.

I am not sure of the appraoch you used but I suspect the problem might be with the format it is in.

You might just need to reformat the digital file with a video converter or equivlent there of  and than reburn it.
Different DVD's can play different formats, some play all.

HEre is a list of the "Top 10 Free Video Rippers, Encoders, and Converters".  Maybe Rich or someone has more insight?

Or

Here one approach to turning a you tube video to a disc, is this similar or different?

Lennny, did you try to play it on your computer?  If so, did it play?  If it played on the computer, maybe you didn't "finish" it so it could play on any DVD player.  Just a thought...

I've never burned any you tube videos to dvd before but a simple search found this you tube video  ;) explaining one way to do it.  It uses free software and seems pretty simple and straight forward.  Might be worth a shot.
