Had an article in Yesterdays Newsday looking for the top movies about Dads, Fathers etc.
Started me thinking
For me the best Father type movie ever was 'To Kill a Mockingbird). Gregory Peck was the ultimate Dad
After that just my own list, in no particular order
Life with Father
Kramer vs Kramer
The Lion King
How about 3 Men and a Baby
Sound of Music
Father of the Bride
I'm sure there are ton's of others.
I did leave out most of the movies that made Dads look like some lost person and usually made him out to be silly and stupid. Funny maybe, but not my idea of a good portray of Dads.
Oh, in the article it also cited 'Shane' as a great father/son movie. I really never thought about it in that light, but it was a great movie for the relationship between a very young Brandon DeWilde and his dad Van Heflin.
And, since I brought Shane up, we know he shot and when the movie ended, was Shane going to die??> I still just do not see that as he rides away.
