I went to school in NYC.  I got to see some films being shot.   That was pretty neat.  The only time it wasn't neat was in Washington Square park where I saw a guy standing on a play ground piece pointing a shotgun out into the crowd, but not the cameras filming it.   I was pretty new to NYC at that time, but it seemed that should have been something that shook up the NYC people in the park.

Your list is great.  I would add

Dog Day Afternoon
Like Jim, The Naked City
Several of Woody Allen's movies--Manhattan, Annie Hall etc
Taking of Pelham 1,2,3
Yes, yes, yes, The Odd Couple
Saboteur, only because of the ending
The French Connection
Terrific- Gangs of New York
Goodfella's
How could anyone not include King Kong
My favorite all time holiday movie- Miracle on 34th St (the original)
Moonstruck
Another of the best movies ever made in and about New York--Saturday Night fever
Wall Street
West Side Story

and Ta-Da, my all time favorite movie about New York-  Taxi Driver
I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

Lenny, being the usual pain-in-the ass that I am, the "Pelham" movie is 123.  There are no commas.

Add The F.B.I. story to that.  I once saw a period drama of Sherlock Holmes being shot in London.  That's it.

Jim, you are a pain in the ass.

But a good sort of pain at that.

I guess anyone can come up with a list of movies, but they should know something about movies before making it.

How could you have a list of movies about NY and not have Miracle on 34th St, or the Odd Couple, or Saturday Night Fever which was shot all over NYC?

I did forget Midnight Cowboy as a great NY movie.
