I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

Yeah, Lee Van Cleef belongs in the 60s.  :D

They weren't using ballpoint or felt tip pens back in the 19th century. He would have been using a fountain pen.

 Lee Van Cleef---- funny

I didn't think Gary Cooper was using that type of pen. I believe he dipped the pen into an inkwell, as he blotted the message after he wrote it.

Sorry, but that isn't it.

You're right, he's using a fountain pen.

I'm with Weeze, the right answer is the preglued envelope.

Now that was cheap, mentioning me and EdS in the same sentence.
May have well said that Albert Blithe was shot in the neck by a sniper.
But I have faith one of the mods will catch it and issue corporal punishment.

OK, i have one for you. since we have a bunch of ww2 historians here, and no fair looking it up. In the series 'Band of Brothers" one of the episodes is pure poetic license. in other words they wernt involved at all. give you a hint, i know they didnt because one of my family members WAS directly involved.
 give it yer best shot.

 Good question Weeze

off the top of my head, I knew that the 101st Airborne did not capture Berchtesgaden and the eagles nest - the 3rd infantry division did.

And again, off the top of my head because some one told me this a while back, In the Bastogne episode, when General McAuliffe told the Germans 'Nut's', he uttered a profanity, and it was well reported the general never uttered such a word.

When I was in the service, we did a trip to Bastogne and they have a museum there, the "Nut's Museum". Great place to visit.

I just watched my new blu-ray version of "High Noon."  (Lenny, you REALLY have to get blu-ray!)  I noticed anotheer anachronism in it.  For those of you have it & can check, look at the scene where Will Kane steps out of his office and is alone in the street.  The camera pans to a wide look at him standing in the middle of the whole town.  Another anachronism!  Anyone with an answer?

the 101st airborne had nothing to do with the liberation of dachau and all the sub camps there. they passed through the area weeks after elemements of the 3rd army, precisely the 42nd rainbow division and another division were there. there actually was quite the fight between 2 divisions over who officially liberated dachau. one thing is certain, the 101st were not there.
thinks its a shame that such a well done project would insert this into the story which leads the viewer to believe that whats in the series was essentially true. as far as them being into the eagles nest first, i really dont know. gotta remember that at this point in the war the americans were in the south while the english and canadians were in the north. i suppose they coul;dve been there but as to whether they were the first ones in i dont know about that one. there was still a entire army left intact. well mostly so , in austria that the war kind of went around and cut off. thus the 3rd army had a bunch of folks sent through the south and the area of munich on the way to austria.

You know I'll chime in on this one.

You would think there were no telephone poles when Will Kane went out to meet his destiny, but if you thought that way, you'd be wrong. As the camera pans out, you can see them in the shot.

Give you another one Jim, not really an anachronism, but just a mistake. While Will is writing that letter, sitting in his office with the clock ticking, just about at 12 now. The actual running time of the movie at this point was about 72 minutes, yet over 85 minutes of clock time has passed.

And let's forget that amazing theme song by Tex Ritter
High Noon -Tex Ritter - Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darlin'
