I nominate this fight scene between Captain Kirk and an alien on Star Trek as the worst.

Squib

You are taking the heart out of my wife. She loves Star Trek, and anything Captain Kirk does is OK by her.

 Interesting topic though.

Are you talking fist fighting, sword fighting, anything goes fighting??

I've seen a lot of movies and most of the fights I've enjoyed. I don't think I have a particular favorite but some of my faves are
In the Bourne Ultimatum, Jason and the bad guy really go at it for almost 5 minutes
In From Russia with Love, Connery and Robert Shaw on the train, great fight scene
Gosh, any fight with Bruce Lee in it. Against Chuck Norris, against Jabar, and in Enter the Dragon, the scene at the end with all those mirrors, great
Some of the Rocky fights were great, particularly the one against the Russian
The fight in Raiders of the Lost Ark with Harrison Ford and that huge German by the single wing plane
And for special effects, in the original Matrix, the fight between Neo and Agent Smith was just super
And the fight in Aliens between Ripley and the Alien Queen was just outstanding

If we are talking swords, Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone in The Adventures of Robin Hood
Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in whichever of the movies they fought in
And just for pure fun and excitement (and fake blood) the fight between 'The Bride' Una Thurman and the Crazy 88's and O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill I
How about in Jason and the Argonauts, the fight against all those Skeletons

As for Epic
Spartacus
Braveheart
Lord of the Rings, Return of the King

As for the worst, any of those old Chinese Kung Fu movies that tried to capitalize on the Bruce Lee scene. Some of the worst fights I have ever seen.

I hate to include the word NASTY, but that is part of being a winning football team.

The Quiet Man is the first one that came to mind.

The Terminator and the "bad" terminator fight in the mental ward hallway in "Terminator 2"

Also, has anyone here seen "Eastern Promises"? Great fight scene starring Viggo Mortensen.

Oh, and don't forget the fights between Peter and the giant chicken in "Family Guy".

As far ad dueling goes you could add Tyrone Power/Basil Rathbone in The Mark of Zorro.   Any duel with Rathbone would be pretty good.   He was an accomplished swordsman.

And for a bad fight:   the entire beat down wasn't that bad but I always got a kick out of the beating Sonny Corleone gave Carlo in The Godfather.   One of his punches misses so bad I always have to watch and wonder how it got by the film editor.    But the movie is still one of the best of all times.

Excellent example, Bill!  It's a funny thing about Basil.  Since he's usually the "bad guy" in the duels, he always loses.  But, in fact he was an expert fencer.  In real life, none of those guys, Flynn, Power et al would had a chance against him.  Another interesting item is that he said the most capable fencer he ever faced in the movies was Danny Kaye!  If you remember, Kaye beat him in a duel in "The Court Jester."

I'm also an Errol Flynn fan [he's in Potomac, too].  Great duels.

For me, an honorable mention to the Duke and Monty Clift in Red River, but for first place, I'll nominate any fight from Michael Mann's 1992 film The Last of the Mohicans, but especially the film's final sequences on the mountain ledge.
