How about bennett?
« on: September 21, 2012, 05:49:58 PM »
He has three tds. in three games, and had a real fine game last night.

Remember when some cowboy fans told us he us a waste, and did nothing in dallas.

Well one person who I respect mark their tight end, stated he would be fine fit for the giants.

Bennett was a second round pick, and was a fine palyer in college, well since he has a shot at being the starter he knows it is his job to lose.

I like what Eli talk to Bennett about when Eli threw that one seam pass and he pulled up.

Next series Eli went to him on the same play 29 yard gian, after the panthers scored.

Go to youtube and search Martellus Bennett workout.  I watched 20 minutes of him at Velocity this summer and fell in love with the guy.

He is a different kind of guy, BUT he wants it....and we are the beneficiaries.

Bennett's real value is in his blocking, both in the run and the pass

I'll say this: He seems to have come to play. Bennett on his way to his best season by far, of course. Eli obviously has grown in confidence with him and why not? He's a huge target and a match up issue. He'll never be an automatic type but I can see that there was no way for him to develop in Dallas with the Romo/Witten bromance. He's better than what he showed there, no question.

For me he seems like a real genuine guy who was talented and liked by his team mates in dallas. He just never got the chance to show it.

It was telling that witten seemed genuinely made up for the guy when he landed on the giants as he saw theyd be a great fit and the kid would show what he could do.

Wittens a class act on and off the field and i resect his opinion on a guy whos played beside and now against him.

Yes he is a very good blocker, but his real value goes way beyond that.  I think he has the potential to be the best pass catching TE we've had since the Shockey salad days.  His real value, IMO, is his completeness as a TE.  And he seems to understand that a (mild, because that is his way) chewing out by Eli is part of the chemistry growth process and he bounced right back and made a big play for us.

The reason Bennett did nada in Dallas and the reason why Bryant isn't setting the league on fire is because of the fundamental difference between Romo and Eli -- Romo cares about his stats. Eli doesn't. Bennett dropped a few balls and a couple of the tips went for INTs. After that, Romo didn't trust Bennett enough to maintain his QB rating. Eli trusts his receivers and gives them second and third and fourth chances. He will get upset if the receiver runs the wrong route, but he'll just go back to them and trusting they will correct their mistakes. Romo freezes you out if you're not going to help him maintain his stats. Dez keeps running the wrong routes. Instead of correcting him, Romo looks for Witten and Austin first. It's because Eli spreads the ball around and isn't afraid to launch one in the face of incomplete passes and INTs that he's the superior QB.

Also, Eli makes sick throws. Romo thrives on the busted play.

Well I guess that settles that. I was waiting for Martellus to chime in but I guess he's not a member ........ I know what he'd say to this thread
