Giants tried to claim T Joe Barksdale off waivers from the Raiders today, but he was awarded to St. Louis instead. #NYG
Have they given up on Diehl or is Beatty not healthy?

I'm more inclined to think it is a matter of Reese always looking to upgrade and Barksdale was a third round pick from a quality program (LSU) who was considered one of the better OL prospects when he came out--so the Giants put in a claim--doing their due diligence---the Raiders were looking for DL help and signed two guys--Andre Carter being one--I forgot the other name--and Barksdale became expendable
I dont think the claim was related to Beatty so much but perhaps it was--as far as Diehl--getting a 24 year old Tackle seems to me to be worth the shot at claiming the guy
Remember many of us were calling for Reese to do something re the OL, just two short weeks ago

If you are claiming a waiver player to be your starter (from the lousy Raiders no less), then your team is in serious trouble. This was a move to try to enhance the depth of the tackle position ... nothing more, nothing less.
