0 sacks Sunday

Where have you gone Tuck, Osi , kiwi and JPP?   You guys were supposed to terrify opposing QBs, instead you are giving them time to eat a sandwich back in the pocket.

+1

It's unlikely that history will repeat itself with the Giants scoring twice on SF special teams miscues.

The other key element in the playoff win was the defensive play which held SF's offense to a paltry number of 3rd down conversions.

With the lack of sacks and QB pressures, I see SF winning this one easily.

Hope I'm wrong.

I thought this was for the O-line since Eli was also not sacked on Sunday.

Keep up the good work boys. :ok:

As for the D-line the other teams have had all off season to figure a way to slow down the Giants pass rush. They have all kept extra men in to help double some and pick up blitzes. It will come soon hopefully.

Penetration up the middle from the DT position has been just as much of an issue as the DE play.

Aside from Osi getting to Weeden's arm when the game was already over, they are getting nothing.  Forget sacks, but they are not getting anywhere close to the QB.  Looks like they are all just trying to bull rush the OLinemen and getting nowhere.  It looks like they are playing more read and react rather than attack.  I would like to see Fewell start bringing some blitzes, maybe some games and stunts up front.  Need to do something to mix it up.

You know the bull rush comment got me thinking.   One way D-linemen improve their chances of getting to the QB is stunting.   There are all sorts of games you can play with their fellow D-linemen to make it more difficult for the O-line to block them.   Of course the down side of defensive line stunts is if you call one on a running play there's a good chance you will find yourself in a bind.  With the Browns and the Eagles the Giants faced very good running backs who would make them pay if they got caught out of position.    Unfortunately with Gore the 49ers are another team with a back that makes D-line stunts risky.

It's a bothersome thought that if they couldn't get a sack against the Browns, how will they get any sacks against the 49ers?
