Chris, agree Chase had a few nice stops up the gut. & yes JPP gave up the edge. But the point I'm trying to establish is how a slow MIKE gives up valuable real estate by not getting to the edges. Rivers would have caught Romo, probably Herzy as well.

Except that Chase had a few stops on sweeps to the edge, Jaime.

Chase wasn't the only player faked on that naked bootleg. The reason why Romo ran in untouched was because no one was there. Everyone bit on the fake.

Boley is still hampered by a hamstring.  People sure do have short memories around here.  Doesn't anyone remember that Boley was the defensive MVP last year?  He has to be hurting because he is a shell of himself.

The team is also missing Williams due to injury.  Rivers has been bothered by injuries all year and left again with a calf injury.

I am with you Jaime.  Chase piles up stats and makes tackles but what doesn't show up on a stat sheet are the number of tackles that would have been made by a quicker and stronger MLB.  This team would be better served with either Rivers or Herzy in the middle.  Which we will probably see next game.

Cruz was shut down again by the Cowboys. Perhaps the rest of the league will copycat the Cowboys's blueprint?  Or is it because Nicks has no burst or explosiveness due to his injury and teams are focusing on Cruz.  Nicks is so easily covered now that I just wonder why the Giants' brass keeps running him out there after play.  Hixon is now showing why he has been a career backup #3 or #4 type only.  Throw in a Bennett who is an adventure everytime the ball is thrown his way, well ... Eli's weapons are shrinking.

When we are in the red zone why not utilize RB?  It would have to help with his height advantage.

So thew question I have is this - if Boley's hammy is still hurt, and he is 60-70%, why not have Paysinger out there?  We seem to finally have some impressive depth at LB (no collection of stars, obviously), soit would seems a healthy combo of Herzy, Pay, Rivers would be a better option, especially when a historically excellent receiving tight end is shredding us.  I still have not heard any explanation as to why Witten was allowed a free release from the LOS on every play.  Adjustments just doesn't seem to be PF's strength.

What also doesn't show up on the stat sheet is how disorganized the defense looks when he isn't in there.  Or how many plays OTHER guys make because he got them in the right position.

Hampered by Hamstring injury?  Lets not kid ourself this guy was never good.  To me he has always been a situational pass rusher.  He is not good in coverage and IMO seems like he is out of position often.

Defensive MVP last year?  No way, not with JPP's performance and how the D picked things up when Blackburn came back along with Tuck and Osi being healthy.

Not very good?  C'mon Rambo - he was the Giants' defensive MVP last year and it wasn't even close.  He has been a great acquisition since he left Atlanta.

I stand corrected on one thing - JPP was the defensive MVP last year, but Boley held the LB crew together and was the team's best LB hands down.

Situational pass rusher? The Giants don't even ask their LBs to be situational pass rushers (that is a role for their DEs) so I have no idea where you are getting that from.  He has been a three down starter since his career with the Giants.

He has had a season-long hamstring injury ... that is fact, not fiction. Those things tend to linger throughout the year.  It appears as if you are taking his performance this year and arriving at the conclusion that is how he played since he came here.  Which is just not true.

Boley was great last season and the beginning of this one.

Boley's only problem has been his inability to stay healthy since we signed him. I think last year was the first one he remained relatively healthy throughout.

Boley's been good but let's not kid ourselves- being the best LB on this team isn't exactly something to crow about.

The good news is that next year's LB crop looks to be one of the best in a long time.  Of course the bad news is that the odds of the Giants actually drafting a linebacker near the top of the draft are next to nil.

Depends on where they draft and who's on the board when they draft.

Maybe.  But I wouldn't hold my breath on a LB.  Since 1984, they've picked just one in the 1st round (Carl Banks) and 2 in the 2nd round (K McGhee and Clint Sintim).
