jaime.....it was subban for shea weber......

the shaw deal was done earlier with the habs getting two second rounders for lars eller and then giving up 2 second rounders for shaw, who they then signed to a 6 year contract

word is that subban was a disruption in the locker room .....it was very telling when he was left off the team canada roster for the upcoming world cup .....go Giants!!!!!

terry, thanks. Got confused with names on the fast & furious action. Just so I got it straight. Weber is a pretty good player but not anywhere near Elite like Subban. Plus Subban is 25 years old and Weber is 6 years older. Don't work all the monetary amounts of the contracts being a huge difference. As I suspected, u indicated in your third paragraph, Subban was a problem that the Habs wanted to be rid of. :boooo:

Edit; my bad Weber us age 24. He just signed a deal for 4 million per. So it's a salary dump as well.

Jeff Bukeboom is our new Assitant Coach. He replaces Ulf Samuelson as the Defensive Assistant. Terrific choice, I was pulling for him all the way. I mentioned a few months ago that I hoped he would be the successor to AV. So this move puts him in line for that possibility...  :nanner:

I think it's about right and I'm pleased he's bridged. He got hot when Nash went down last season but other than that, it's a little 'meh'.

He's in line for serious minutes his year. Let's see what he does with the opportunity and hopefully be develops into a top tier player.

Ed, I'm a fan of Miller. The way AV jerked him around last year, I was amazed that he scored 22 goals. It's like J.T. was successful for his best year as a Pro, in spite of his coach. 43 points as a 23 year old. Like his upside. =D>

Yeah, I agree. The cap will be sorted by time JT renews as Nash will be gone and one of Staal/G will move on.

What did you guys think of the Michael grabnor signoing ??

Personally, I loved it....just the kind of speed that can hurt on a 4th line and is great on penalty kill ??

Yup, I really liked it. He'll pretty much the faster player on the squad, he's a great on the PK and nobody has scored more SHG than Grabnor over the last five years. Really like this pick up.

I'm also not too down the Gerbe signing, I've only seen him when he's played against the Rangers but he's name has caused us problems.

I'm still pretty high on this squad but that's based on a number of assumptions:

1. The PK will be drastically improved
2. Staal/G cannot be as bad as they were last year. Hopefully both on the 3rd pair, albeit an expensive 3rd pair.
3. Nash remains injury free and gets closer to the 35 goal mark than last years efforts.

IF those things happen, this team will be very competitive in the Division. After that, who knows. I certainly don't believe it's a return to the dark ages (granted, I didn't experience them) just yet.

Thinking when Gorton feels he's got the best deal possible to move Nash, he will. And that can occur anytime between now and the trade deadline. Gotta feeling after Gorton sees Staal and Girardi struggle as a third-line pair, he'll bite the bullet and trade one of them? Suspect the soon to be witnessed play of young D's Graves and Anderson will motivate Gorton to egress Staal & Girardi pairing. Hopefully at some point or defensive pairings look like this?
 Odongha & Klien
Skjei & MacIlrath
Graves & Anderson

Big Mac officially back in the fold on a 1 yr deal.  =D> =D>

Kovacs also signed his 3yr ELC deal. Kid was scheduled to go back to sweden for this year but I wonder if he now stays and plays in AHL hartford with his buddy Stromwell. Reports were that Kovacs was very impressive at rangers recent development camp and team is high on him

I follow a lad on Twitter who is so excited by Kovacs. Judging by what he says, he thinks he'll stick at the AHL level and break through next year.

Re: Dylan, it's a strange one. To my untrained eye he seemed much better than he's previous stint with the big club. Can only imagine him he's a spare part again this year.

It'll be interesting to see how the D shapes up this year. Surely G cannot be as bad again?
