http://tarheelblue.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/hedgecock_madison00.htmlMadison Hedgecock was cut by the St. Louis Rams early in the 2007 season, supposedly because of his limited skills in the passing game, making him lass valuable in the Rams scheme. Regardless of the truth there, Hedgecock is a very good fit in NY. Big and powerful, he is an excellent lead blocker. He does not win them all, but he is much more potent than Jim Finn was. Finn was the better pass catcher, but what is more important in the Giants scheme? He does not run the ball. This is not an issue when you have our backfield. He can appear stiff, and struggled catching the ball early. But later in the season and in the playoffs he was able to make some plays catching the ball.
Hedgecock made a critical block on Tedy Bruschi in Super Bowl XLII to covert the fourth and 1 in the now famous drive.
The Giants really liked this guy all along, and pounced on him as soon as he became available. Soon therafter he got a nice extension, and he is worth it. He is the Giants best FB since Charles Way, whose career was shortened by injury, and Mo Carthon.
