Sad news, but I think it's self-serving to try and blame football.   I had a friend in her twenties that was diagnosed, and she was no where near a football field.

Very sad indeed....and I don't blame football on this....

Tough day to see this story and a Sayers story (you can tag football more on that one)...trending...

I really feel for what the Clark family has in front of them....

I feel bad for Dwight Clark and his family. My dad passed away from ALS in 1999. It is a very sad disease seeing a loved ones muscles waste away. Dwight Clark has his one side very week and problems grabbing another,d of things  with his other hand. He won't be alive much longer. Very sad.

Maybe Clark is one of those unlucky few that would have developed ALS regardless of profession, but the numbers show that former NFL players are four times as likely than the general population to develop ALS and twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's.
