1 of the top FAs -- #Giants DT Jonathan Hankins -- has tried for weeks to beat NYG's standing offer. Hasn't done it yet. They want an answer

Any indication what the standing offer is?

Sounds like a nice little game of Poker going on. I just hope he doesn't jump at something that looks better on the surface just to save face.

This is a good move. He's holding them up and it's crunch time. If you know what I mean.

The Giants strategy has been very consistent with their own FAs.  They want them to test the market so it sets the price of the player, then they can decide if they want to play or not.  That strategy has its positives and negatives but it is one they certainly believe in.  With Hankins, it appears to be a strategy that is working for now as his price is dropping, but who is to say that at a price lower than his demands that another team does not step in.

Sounds like the front office is telling Big Hank to "xxxx or get off the pot". That's a reasonable thing for the FO to ask because if they don't sign him, they are interested in some other free agents that might be available if they don't have to dole out money for him.

Totally agree, the Giants need to finish up free agency and finalize their draft plans.  Having a starter that doesn't know what he wants to do, is not helping the team at this point.

Sounds like it is time to start dropping the offer down a little each week.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist

I'm sure the offer isn't good till cancelled. It would seem this week a decision has to be made.

FA DE Jared Odrick, who passed a physical on his #Patriots visit, is one to watch on if #Giants don’t get Hankins back. He’ll take visits

Seen on Rapoport's Twitter feed:

"Has he tried Cleveland?  They're not quite a NFL team but they'll pay anybody."

Why do we need another DE?

At 6' 5" and 298 pounds he is a 3-4 DE who could play 3 tech DT in a 4-3
