Between all the injuries at WR and Tyree on the PUP, I'd say there is a very good chance Moss makes the roster initially.  Down the road, who knows, but I would be very surprised if he wasn't on the opening day roster.  They should keep 6, and I'd imagine London would be the odd man out here.

someone stated in a past thread that we couln't put london on the PS again because he's been there.  what's the rule on this?  I got the impression that he'd seen his limit on the practice squad.  anyone know???

Keep something in mind gentlemen and excuse me if someone already mentioned it. The Giants have held roster spots for special teams players in the past. Long Snapper was one and wasn't Tyree a specials player and an extra receiver? I look for Manningham and Moss to make the team. You could see a trade between either a Moss or a Smith. It's possible. I would think London goes to the PS. He hasn't been featured or stood out in the last two games to stick. Let's see tonight.

Something else. I don't love any of the other TE's past Mathews and Douglas has played exceptionally well. A stretch but 2 FB's and 2 TE's?. Douglas is a better blocker, a better pass catcher and can run the ball too.

Ed:  London has been hurt with the AC joint in the shoulder thing.  I understand that.  But an avoidable indication of how a guy stands vis a vis his competition on the roster is the point that he gets into the game.  The guys who get in later have less of a chance.  The guys who are in the game in the first quarter can still play themselves off the roster-true.  But I don't think that has been the case with Moss. This pecking order doesn't apply necessarily to the quarterback position.  Often there is a set plan about how the quarterbacks will split time.  But I do think the Giants are PUPPing Tyree instead of IRing him because they have every intention to activating him when he's ready.  As for trade bait, this idea was way overdone this summer.  I'm not sure any of these guys would procure a draft pick, with the possible exception of Moss, who might bring a sixth or something like that.

When healthy, London has looked very good and has shown a great deal of progress over the past year.  With the dearth of wide receivers in this league, I just don't see how London does not get scooped up if he is placed on the PS.  For example - he would probably be the 2nd or 3rd receiver for the Jets right now.

God I hope this team does not keep Moss over London.

In spite of a drop, Moss complicates matters a little bit tonight after a nice over the middle catch and  a short run for a TD.

Who knows- after his first half performance tonight, maybe Darcy Johnson will eventually end up as the #1 tight end.

No doubt Tom. Johnson solidified a spot. London hurt himself and Moss sticks.

Retro, at the start of camp Hixon and London were walking in as receivers on equal ground. Now Hixon is knocking on the door as the #3. Every receiver had a shot to slot themselves in the pecking order for ps time  with the top 3 missing most of camp.

Size matters. London is the tallest receiver after Burress. How much it matters, I dunno.
Burress 6'5" 232
London 6'4" 210
Toomer 6'3" 203
Hixon 6'2" 182
Smith 5'11" 195
Manningham 5'11" 183  (skinny?)
Moss 5'8" 185
also ran Monk 6'4" 212

An embarrassment of riches!

afan, I would argue Burress and Toomer are the best blocking WR tandem in the league, partly due to their size. If you ever wonder how Burress gets so wide open on some of those fades, you should watch him when Jacobs gets a handoff in a similar situation and the CB gets totally engulfed by PB. It's no wonder the CBs get caught setting their feet as Plaxico turns his route into the corner.

London hasn't used his size as well as a blocker. A bit dissappointing there.

Im with Lenn and todge on their opinions of Moss, hes a smurf that wont do anything once the regular season starts. Hes not tough and seems to lack the desire and intelligence to be a good reciever. London might of had a bad game last night but I like his size and potential over Moss.

The pup status may be keeping Tyree a Giant. Yes,we all love him but let's not forget he has been a mediocre receiver and has lasted because of his special team prowess. Moss seems to be for the most part, not too well liked around here. Moss had 21 receptions in 8 games last year, and this year it looks like the light went on in some coaches head to discover that he actually can run downfield pretty fast

With all due respect to Tyree I doubt very much that he would have outperformed Moss or Hixon, and Manningham showed instantly, once getting in a game, that he has"it' and must be kept.
BTW...with the show Hixon has put on so far,I'd be thinking more in terms of #2 than #3.

Sadly I see the miracle man having a very difficult time making the team this year.

The Miracle Man will get activated after six weeks but not later than ten weeks if, Slickie boy:

1. Special teams' coverages stink.
2. There is a rash of injuries to the wide receivers
3. There is an overall lack of toughness being exhibited on the roster.

If no 1, 2 & 3, I agree with you.

Is it just me or are a lot of us all starting to think alike. I hope it's just the case of knowledge and experience. I would hate to think we have brainwashed each other. laugh
