Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 27, 2024, 08:45:46 PMHow motivated do you think they really were to sign Barkley? They didn't tag him, and there were plenty of reports he was going to hit the free agent market. I would not say they made any real effort to sign him. I think it was a total waste to not trade him. "We were still trying to win" in the context of what this team was in 2023 is an absurd explanation.
If I can touch on this... remember that the RB market was depressed last season and there was a reasonable expectation that they might be able to reach a mutual agreement which from the perspective of Management and Ownership was in their favor. The shallow RB class changed that market along with teams that needed a two way back. Other teams see the Giants situation differently than some of us do. Some of us see Saquon as a rapidly aging RB who is in his decline do to injuries and who struggles in the passing game and in Pass Protection. The Eagles saw a poor Offensive Line and a Shell Shocked QB who had an adverse effect on the performance of SB.

So the situation was viewed differently last season to this season and from the perspective of a team looking to round out their Roster to remain relevant and get back to becoming a Playoff contender.

Just my two cents.

No - only because I don't think Penix is long for the NFL.

Makes plenty of sense.  And I happen to agree with it- I think it would be an awful look to just do a wholesale firesale at that point in the season.

Previously, if a team placed players on injured reserve (IR) during preseason, it would automatically be season-ending. That is no longer the case thanks to this amendment at the annual league meeting in Orlando.

By Competition Committee; amends Article XVII, Section 17.16(C), to permit each club to place a maximum of two players who are placed on an applicable Reserve List on the business day of the final roster reduction to be designated for return. Such players will immediately count as two of the club's total designations.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on March 27, 2024, 10:02:39 AMI watched "Poor Things" on Hulu last night, starring Emma Stone. Weird is an understatement - creepy might be a better definition. Black and white film (for the first part, as they pulled a Wizard of Oz color switch later into the movie). Basically a new version of Frankenstein mixed in with a healthy dose of,"The Island of Dr. Moreau" (putting human minds in animals and experimenting with crossing animals) and a whole lot of porn...including full-frontal nudity and lots of explicit sexual acts that were more graphic than I expected - or cared to see. I'll say this much, Emma Stone is quite a good actress, and she went all in, for her performance. To call her "daring" doesn't begin to define her carefree attitude with nudity, masturbation, straight sex, lesbian sex, etc, on the big screen

Synopsis: Mid-20's age girl (Emma Stone as Bella Baxter), who has been returned to life by swapping out her brain with a baby's brain (her own baby as she was 9 moths pregnant, who didn't die with her). So she has to learn everything a baby does, only in an adult body. After running away and going to Lisbon, France, and back to London, she has pretty much figured out life and how to live as an adult...that is, once she gets over her obsessive interest in her sexuality that she discovers quite by accident. Like a kid who has found his favorite toy that he didn't know existed

I would not suggest it unless you're into heavy erotica mixed with Frankenstein. I was going to give up on it after 10 minutes, but then had nothing else to watch or do, so I ended up watching the whole thing. The fact that I'm still thinking about it this morning tells me it was a disturbing movie I won't forget...even if I want to, LOL. The ending was great and therefore, worth it I guess. Critics loved it and Emma won an Oscar for her performance, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's good. Most flicks that get rave reviews in Hollywood are rarely bearable to watch - unless, of course, you are entirely into analyzing acting performances

Ric

I know you probably missed it but I watched Poor Things about a month ago and wrote a detailed review also (Post 998). Funny we sort of both came away with similar thoughts.

Since reading some of the answers, it reminded me of another thing, I didn't splurge on but was bought for me, well above what I would have spent.
I do most of the cooking at home, and I have always tried to have a good chef's knife. I saw one costing well over $100, something I probably never would have spent on just one knife, but my darling wife bought it for me when I retired and I use this basically every day since then. Sharpened it a few times along the way, but it is my pride and joy.

I play this most days without much success. Today I got them all with my first guess, something I have never done before. Tomorrow will be back to the same terrible score, but for one day, I'm satisfied.

My son was brought up as a Modern Orthodox Jew in that he kept all KOsher laws, he kept the Sabbath, and everything else that is associated with his religion.
So what does he do, goes out and marries the first shiska ( Jewish word for a non-Jewish female). To say my wife wasn't happy is putting it mildly. So almost 15 years and 4 grandchildren letter, things have changed dramatically. We all make concessions and attitudes change. Would we still wish he would have married in his faith, yes, but it is what it is and we accepted that. What choice did we have, sever all relationships? Not a chance.
Technically, because the mother isn't of Jewish faith, none of the children are considered Jewish either. We still love them all though.
