Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on Today at 11:20:49 AMCats are mysterious creatures that see themselves as the highest order of the food chain. While dogs look up to humans and think, "they feed me and give me shelter, they must be God"; whilst a cat thinks, "they feed me and give me shelter, I must be God"

Here's another example:

Two dogs and a house cat die at the same time. Standing at heaven's door, God asks the German Shepard what he believes in. The German Shepard says, "Discipline, loyalty, and obedience". God says, "you may enter"

Next, God asks the Doberman what he believes in. The Doberman says, "Loyalty, obedience, and love of my family". God says, "you may enter"

Next, God asks the house cat what he believes in. The cat says, "I believe you're in my seat"

Anyway, it's quite normal for cats to have one person they trust in, no matter what, and see others as a nuisance or just in their way. Cats take a long time to earn your trust, unless you've raised them from birth. They especially hate strangers (in most cases). As far as your friend goes, cats are intuitive and can sense things we can't. If they sense that she is nervous around cats, they pick up on it immediately and will want nothing to do with her. The more she feels that cats don't like her, the more it becomes part of who she is and cats sense it. Having a cat screech while talking about it is coincidental, but very funny. That's all I got  :-??

It made me wonder what the cat sensed that night. It happened the exact time we were discussing it. Nothing the rest of the night. Cats seem to like me and will brush up against me and let me pet them. Although I've never had a cat as part of the family.

Quote from: T200 on Today at 11:04:27 AMI have a love-hate relationship with cats.

Before Sharon and I got married, she had "rescued" a cat from another AF member. They actually met by chance at the kennel. He was turning in the cat for adoption because he and his wife were getting ready to have their first child and she did not want the cat any longer. After talking with him for a while, Sharon decided to take "Hobbes" home. Hobbes was now the "man" of the house.

After we got married, there was a new sheriff in town and Hobbes wasn't having it. He would challenge me at every turn, hang out on the top of the fridge and take swipes at me as I passed, and all kinds of other craziness. It took some time but I eventually won him over. I have tons of pics of him sleeping on me, jumping on me to hold him like a baby, hanging around me like my shadow lol.

We were close until he finally went home to his maker. We never got another pet after Hobbes. Too emotional.
I can completely understand your situation Tim.

A couple of weeks ago Linda and I went out to dinner with a friend and his wife. In the course of the conversation, she mentioned that Cats do not like her. All Cats. While we were discussing this in a nice Italian Restaurant, we heard a cat scream from some back room. It was surreal. It was weird.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this before?

I started investing in Gold when it was a contrarian play at $180 an ounce. The US Central Bank was selling Gold to keep the price low. There were several mining companies that did well over time but the real money was made in coin. Unfortunately, purchasing and storing gold bars was unattainable. The Highs and Lows of Miners is not a good long term investment.

Quote from: katkavage on Today at 07:36:23 AMYes I agree with this to an extent. The window is short. But if the high profile talent is wasted and the results are still sub par, the fans in the seats will get very antsy. That is why this year's draft is probably the most compelling for the Giants than any in memory. Though I think what they have to do is clear cut, it really isn't. There are so many factors to consider. But again, as I said above, I am not thinking 2024, but beyond that. I don't think anyone can realistically think the Giants can suddenly be a power next season.
In 2004 the Drafting of Eli Manning rejuvenated the fan base because it was a fresh beginning after a very disappointing 2003. 2002 ended in much promise and those years are somewhat similar to today. I would expect a segment will be angry for a couple of years if the Giants have to trade away a lot to move up.

I can see if MHJ fell to the Giants that there would be some degree of optimism. We have fans here who would be very happy if that happened. The Cherry might be moving up for Nix from the second round. I would hope it wouldn't be a Mike Cherry.

The intangible here is the line of building a team and at the same time rejuvenating a disappointed and disgusted fan base. The easiest way to do the later is to draft a new Franchise QB if the right one is within reach. If you can't do that, or it puts the team in a hole for an extended period of time, then high profile talent at key positions will keep the fans in their seats. This is a business with a short window for the decision makers.

I have always adapted to the situation and the team around me. There were situations where I had to be initially autocratic in a new environment but that was more of a training and development of the management under me and then at some point it became more of delegation and discussion. Empowering management teams and support with a clear defined direction.

In my current situation, I represent a principal in a business relationship. When I represent an intelligent, strong personality who can make good clear decisions, I collaborate to inform and discuss and let the client make the decisions based on all that. In other relationships, I need to drive the bus and make strong suggestions.

I believe a leader needs to be flexible and have the ability to adapt to situations. If you can't make the hard decisions or do the unpleasant and what may be deemed as unpopular, you don't belong in that role. It's nice to be liked and respected and that's the best scenario but if you can't have both, respect is paramount.

I see Schoen and Daboll as the team that the Giants haven't had since perhaps the days of Coughlin and Accorsi. Prior to that George Young wasn't a partner to his HCs.

Within that Schoen-Daboll dynamic, they will get input from the coaches and staff around them as to player personnel and draft decisions which they then discuss and I see Schoen being flexible with Daboll unless he has a strong position contrary to Daboll. As far as the team operations including the training regiment, I saw Daboll as delegating however, the game plan on both sides after discussion was decided by him. So he's collaborative to a point but he's definitely a strong leader.

Where Parcells would complain about being the Chef but not buying the groceries and Coughlin angry at Reese for bad priorities and Gettleman so full of himself and making capricious and arbitrary decisions while not in tune with his revolving door of HCs, the Schoen-Daboll partnership looks to be the one that has the best chance for success. The caveat is the ultimate talent of Daboll as the HC, where Parcell and Coughlin transcended the dysfunctional organization. Until their window closed.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 17, 2024, 11:33:41 AMRaw stats tell the story of the game.

Take for example the Tennessee Game to start the season, Jones did absolutely nothing outside of one deep pass in the 4th quarter and besides that it was defense, rushing, and special teams that won us that game.

Jones went 17-21 with an 80% cmpl rate, and a 115 rating but had zero effect on the game. So if we looked at your stats then you'd think Jones played extremely well but us as fans that watched the game realized he did absolutely nothing outside that one 60 yard throw in the 4th quarter. Before that he barely had a 100 passing yards the whole game, but we are supposed to act like he did well.

Sam howell in his 1st year playing put up more production than Jones ever has, and that's sad. In Jones best year his production tied Davis Mills which is equally sad. There's no way to get around that, 3rd and 4th round picks on equally bad teams putting up the same or more production than Jones. There is no defense of that other than to say Jones isn't that guy and quite frankly has never been that guy ever throughout high school, college, and the pros. He has 1 game a year that make people excited and forget about the other 15 were he played horribly.
You must love being patronized. lol
