But I can't wait till all this is over. Silly week is beyond ridiculous. The media, X'rs and Podheads have really outdone themselves this time.

The Front Porch / Re: Why do Cats hate some people?
April 23, 2024, 10:07:45 PM
Quote from: AZGiantFan on April 23, 2024, 10:00:58 PMI had always been a dog person and indulged in stupid speciesist humor like, 'the more times you run over a cat the flatter it gets'.

But after we had been retired for about 5 years, one night at dinner I told my wife that I'd like to have one last pet before my time came.  A dog would just take too much energy with walking and needing someone to take them when we traveled, so putting aside our bias, we decided to get a cat.  We went down to PetCo where they had rescue cats and picked out an orange tabby and about 200 bucks worth of paraphernalia.

I named him Eli.  Interestingly, the people I knew who knew about cats said males made the best pets.  It became pretty evident, after an adjustment period in which he realized just what an improvement his life experienced, that he was 'my' cat, even though my wife was the one who fed him.

I called him a puppy cat because a lot of his behavior was very puppy like.  And he is insanely friendly when people come to my house, including complete strangers.  I have a handyman and a housekeep who come in and do for me and he follows them around and supervises them

His real value as a companion came when my wife passed away unexpectedly in February of 2023.  For a while it was strange as he would walk around as if he was looking for her.  But he got more cuddly with me and it's a rare night when he's not up on the bed sleeping with me.  He's been a real and continuing life-changer.

You have a nice companion. It sounds like he's got some of the traits of a dog.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your wife.

Quote from: londonblue on April 23, 2024, 11:55:04 AMMighty, I back and forth with Ceri for months in the run up to the draft so I guess a bit of my brain seeps into his around the edges. At this point my Board is specific only to players I would take (so fit as well as grade) but by position and within position in order here are my first rounders:

QB: Williams*, Maye*, McCarthy, Daniels
RB: N/A
TE: Bowers
WR: Harrison Jr*, Odunze*, Nabers, Thomas Jr
OT: Alt, Fuaga, Latham, Fashanu, Fautanu
IOL: Barton
ED: Verse
DE/DT: Murphy
LB: N/A
S/NCB: N/A
CB: Mitchell, Arnold

19 in total

Of the above I only have 4 with potential gold-jacket/multiple all-pro grades as indicated by *

If I have any medical or character Qs I exclude them from * status but keep in R1 if I deem them 'minor'

4 bigger medical Qs not included above but grade high enough for me if cleared to have a R1 grade: Latu, Newton, DeJean, McKinstry

Just my view. My lack of love for the D guys shines through with some notable omissions.

Interested why you don't see Dallas Turner as a first-rounder.

The Jets Organization is trash and Wilson isn't as bad as advertised. Soon Aaron Rodgers will expose them. Another example of a young QB in a bad situation.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 22, 2024, 09:24:01 AMI am beginning to move toward that position.  It does seem that there is talent to be had in the later rounds, but teams are far too focused on round one.   When you look at the top 30 visits, as reported, roughly half the prospects brought in are projected to go round one.  There are 7 rounds in the draft (in the Giants case 6) so half the visits are devoted to round one and half the remaining visits are left for the next five picks.
I think it's done more as a smokescreen and it's a waste of time. They should only be bringing in those players they need to learn more about. If they don't know this QB Draft Class by now, they never will. Now Nabors would be a productive visit because of the character concerns.
