Big Blue Huddle / Is Drake Maye dropping?
March 08, 2024, 01:55:52 PM
Mayeday. Mayeday. I'm sensing a downturn in Maye's position at the upper tier of the draft. His final season left some draft niks wanting more. It seees to coincide with JJ's meteoric rise into top 10 predictions.

Our heroes seem lurching to some towards qb inevitably there. Is Maye a lock to the Pats? I'm certain, however, they can find a trade partner (Raiders, Vikings, Broncos). But I don't want to trade 3 picks for him,.

I've said it before: I don't value JJ at 6. Much rather have a likely star in Nabers or Odunze.

Big Blue Huddle / What QB would you trade up for?
January 30, 2024, 04:16:27 PM
There's been some desire of the brethren to trade up to nab either Williams, Maye or Daniels. I'm against it considering the holes on the roster (see Mighty) but  get the crying need for a star qb with our heroes.

Part of my question also is "whose your guy" in that scenario. Would it be a  Day 2 or 3 selection? McCarthy? Pennix? Pratt? Nix? No qb? Trade down early? Some of this speculation is premature..of course Just curious

Big Blue Huddle / NGT-JJ McCarthy declares
January 14, 2024, 03:20:44 PM
JJ has declared for the draft.

Some have speculated here whether the Giants should have an interest in him. To me..I never really saw him elevate to elite status (run centric O). Looks like a Day 3 pick .no?

Put up terrific numbers against cream puffs..handed off too much for me when I watched him  Is he just a guy or a real value later in the draft?

Big Blue Huddle / NGT-NFL Weather Watch Concern
January 12, 2024, 11:15:54 PM
As we've heard, playoff conditions figure to be bad to awful in both KC & Buffalo. Now comes a possible need (from the NFL) to move either one or both to a later date.

The league considers it a safety consideration (certainly true) but it also includes the spectre of being unwatchable with cameras..a major problem too considering. Money talks as well.
.
. At least The Fog Bowl in 1988 was harmless

Thoughts?

"Playoffs? Playoffs?"-Jim Mora.

Yup.

Browns at Texans. Maybe the most competitive game off the tee. Texans overcame injuries to win their Division and have one of the best long ball qbs in CJ Stroud..have the home crowd and quality young talent.

And Dalton Schultz, a terrific TE addition from the
Pokes, plus Will Anderson, another star rookie creating havoc and an inspirational coach in Ryans.

And then came Flacco. Off his couch and into the hearts of Clevelanders as their savior.Speaking of long ball..he also is one of the best  And Schwartz's D is top notch..

If this game were in Cleveland..I'd love the Brownies..but I will pick them anyway cause I believe their defense won't fold late. BROWNS close.

Onto to the frozen face off where your face might freeze off-KC. Dolphins blew their best chance to make a run at a Supe losing to the Bills. That said..their offense is finally healthy but at the worst time..

KC Swifties limped into the playoffs..kicking and screaming..but have the defense in artic conditions to stymie the Fins. Miami is a fish out of water here. Losing their best pass rusher in Chubb is a crusher.

Mahomes will do enough..refs too to please America's Sweetheart Team
KC comfortably.

Shuffling off..to Buffalo. It won't be Buff-Below Zero..but windy as can be. An impossible spot for the Steelers with a 3rd Stringer (Rudolph) at the helm. No AJ Watt (Pitt 1-10 without him) and..for once..I am buying into the Bills.

Allen has accounted for 41 tds this year He screws up a lot. but he keeps grinding always. Plus..their OL has stayed healthy all year and can run it .
A loss would be devastating for Buffalo Don't see it.
BILLS big.

Week 18. Decisions .outcomes..changes looming as always. The marquis game has significant ramificatuons (Bills vs.Dolphins) Miami hobbies into game after a dreadful beat down by Baltimore. The Bills? I never really trust them to be reliable. With a win....they get the division

NFC South (if you hadn't noticed)  should be wrapped up by the Bucs against the Cats. Baker went sourdough last week and is banged up..so maybe there's a twist for the Saints/Falcs

Then..grudge match in historic Lambeau...Bears/Pack. Can I say surging Bears? They would love to spoil Green Bay. Go Bears. Huge game for Fields.

We know the scoreboard games..Dallas/Coms..Jints/Eagles later  And Lil Bill's sendoff..too.

Big Blue Huddle / NGT- Qbs in the draft.
January 06, 2024, 03:23:22 PM
Most qbs drated high are busts..we know..stats don't lie. But maybe some of it wrong talent..wrong fit.

Asking our faithful here: Who is your guy if the Giants lose to the Eagles..get a 3rd .4th pick in the first round.?

Week 14..and there are "no tomorrows"..with coaches on "the hot seat" trying to stay "in the hunt" and avoid "cleaning things up".

Anymore cliches? Got an eye on the Bears/Lions and Bills/KC later..and more bogus calls from the refs. Of course.

Two in particular: Bills vs Chiefs and Eagles vs. Pokes.

Buffalo (6-6) is in total turmoil-on the field and off. But Josh Allen is capable of a superstar performance and their running game has been improving with Cook

Kc too has issues with a considerable drought (by their standards) on offense, relying on Spags' unit to reach their record (8-4).

Their receiving corps has got to step up big time (Rice) for Mahomes and Travis not to disappoint Taylor's hopes.

Iggles have clawed their way to their perch (10-2) but are very fortunate. Now..Hurts looks hurt and
figures to have little to no running game to balance their attack against Dallas. Plus..they have been nose diving on defense..matchup problems at linebacker..etc.

Pokes (9-3) have been dominant at home..are rested and have no lame excuses to not beat the Iggles. Ferguson has come on as a top tier TE..which has helped Dak put up career numbers.

I like Buffalo close and Pokes big

Big Blue Huddle / NGT-Turkey Games
November 23, 2023, 04:53:26 PM
The Pack whacked the Lions .if you missed it. Goff goofed all day under an intense pass rush .showing his limitations. Very good game from Love. Was poised and accurate.

You've got to be concerned about the Lions defense. They've been lit up more than once. Onto to the Commanders/Pokes. Slow start for Dak. Howell about that Sam   Most sacked by far .record pace. He's all over the place. Up..down .mostly down on the ground.

Get to watch JJ McCarthy..hopefully not handing off 30 times in a row against the Terps  Windy in Maryland btw.  Brock Bowers, terrific TE for the Dawgs .back healthy versus the Vols.

Big Blue Huddle / NGT-Drake Maye

I haven't seen him play but obviously the sophomore UNC Tar Heel is highly rated. Only a sophomore..his production has been very good (14th Qbr). Is listed as 6'4"..classic size

He seems to be a likely top 5 pick..would be the next chapter in franchise history..but is he worthy of such merit?

Thoughts?

Well..the Fins can't beat good teams again..even in Duetchland. Chiefs struggles on offense continue..but Miami bumbles .fumbles are the difference with KC's solid defense picking it up

Big Blue Huddle / NGT: Jets I've Liked
October 28, 2023, 12:21:22 PM
There are some Jets and their fans I like. Some I don't. Here goes...

Joe Namath: Even though I was a Giant fan growing up..I lived near Shea and saw him several times in action. Though overrated, he was brash and so different. Engaging.

Larry Grantham: One of the original Titans that toiled for years as a quality LB until finally playing his career out in Super Bowl III as a champ.

Mark Gastineau: Underrated. Premier pass rusher with flair. Helped the Giants make the playoffs in 81 sacking the Pack.

Joe Beningo: One of favorite FAN air guys that is both a quality guy and true fan for ages.

On the other hand.. :boooo:

Brandon Tierney: Delusional Jets partisan FAN howler who never misses a chance to throw dirt on the Jints.

Rich Kotite: Even Jets fans cringe at his name as a coach. He wasn't the "total package" as we learned.

Fireman Ed: Didn't his act grow old years ago? Somebody hose him down.

Al Toon: This is personal..he broke my heart in 88 with that TD catch essentially knocking the Giants out of the playoffs.

Ravens looking sensational..wiping out the Lions for lunch 21-0.. Jackson has been awesome so far. Bills still struggling..down 10-3 to the Patriots. Sloppy. Imagine a Diggs meltdown could be coming.

Guys wide open all day for the Ravens.

Big Blue Huddle / Saquon to the Bills?
January 23, 2023, 02:41:00 PM
I'm wondering if keeping Barkley is prudent He's a talent but impact guys can found all over the place at bargain cost. And the Bills need a rb. We have to resign Jones..have to find a #1 wide out...probably cut Golladay..add an IOL..and try to restructure Leo before the draft.

Happy with team's revival nevertheless. But our heroes have work to do

Giants History / Worst Giant Kicker Ever
October 23, 2008, 11:26:51 AM
Bob Timberlake. Once a very good Michigan QB that won a Rose Bowl over Oregon State, he fell into the PK duties because of an injury in 1965. Although he had hit a 43-yarder to help beat the Steelers 23-13 earlier, he went 0 for 14 (1-15/6.7 FG percentage). He only missed 1 extra point. He put the thrill back into the extra point!

Oldtimers: Can you remember any games from 65' that he might have screwed up? Then went 7-7 that year. And how maddening was it to watch him botch attempts over and over again compared to today's almost automatic percentages?
