Most Giants fans (and fans in general) have such a fundamental lack of understanding of draft positioning and value I couldn't imagine why we would care what they think. Most fans seem to think the addition of a wide receiver is transformative, and it's typically not.  The rest of the fans think Daniel Jones sucks, and he mostly does, but they're in such a rush to get his successor that they're not really concerned with who that is, or what the team might have to sacrifice to get there.  Trade up for JJ McCarthy?  It only takes one team, but I would imagine most draft boards have him nowhere near the top 10 in terms of value.

Also they gave way to many options, should have just been wr, qb, or other.

Jess,

I can't speak for fans, but I will say in the Giants Twitterverse/Podcast world, there seems to be strong agreement that it's better to draft an elite WR than reach/trade for a QB.   They seem down on the whole, QB or bust, fans.

Even on our forum, while there are a few QB or bust fans among us, there seems to be a substantial portion who seem to either favor a WR or think it would be the Giants' best option under the circumstances.

I understand the point of the question. However, by now, we should have gained a realistic view of risk/reward/opportunity/chance as it applies to the Draft. Thus, I'd hate to think that hole-filling must exclude star-collecting. Why would we choose to handicap ourselves before we start?  :-?? Still, I do get it! It's always as much about luck as it is about anything else.

Cheers!

I think one way to see which way you lean is which type of draft trade you generally prefer.

1)  Trade up to grab to grab a better prospect

2)  Trade down to get more picks

Grab the star players. I am still haunted by Gettlemans trade down, which instead of  getting Parsons or Slater, netted the Giants Toney and Neal! 🤢 so for me always grab the star ⭐️

I have a love-hate relationship with cats.

Before Sharon and I got married, she had "rescued" a cat from another AF member. They actually met by chance at the kennel. He was turning in the cat for adoption because he and his wife were getting ready to have their first child and she did not want the cat any longer. After talking with him for a while, Sharon decided to take "Hobbes" home. Hobbes was now the "man" of the house.

After we got married, there was a new sheriff in town and Hobbes wasn't having it. He would challenge me at every turn, hang out on the top of the fridge and take swipes at me as I passed, and all kinds of other craziness. It took some time but I eventually won him over. I have tons of pics of him sleeping on me, jumping on me to hold him like a baby, hanging around me like my shadow lol.

We were close until he finally went home to his maker. We never got another pet after Hobbes. Too emotional.

Of the Vikings do infact move up we should all hope it's for number 3.

Anyways it seems like all trades will be day of because teams don't know what Washington and New England prefer.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 09:41:32 AMWhile I suspect you are referring mostly to Schoen signing Daniel Jones to a contract, there were plenty of other "win now" moves that Schoen made last season.

Such as:

Trading a low third-round pick for TE Darren Waller

Trading a 2024 7th rounder for LB/S Isaiah Simmons

Swapping low 2025 round picks for Boogie Basham

One might argue retaining Barkley on the franchise tag was a win-now move.

You could also look to Schoen not trading away Barkley and McKinney midseason (there was still hope at 1925 Giants Way, that the team could come back) and instead allowing both to walk away with no direct compensation.

I wasn't referring to just Jones I was referring to everything which includes not dumping Saquon at the deadline in 2022 when he was at peak value being the number 1 back in the league at the time. Retaining Slayton over Love who was a glue guy, signing Waller etc.

Interesting that he mentions #3.  I am not sure how probable it is (not very would be my guess), but is it possible the Patriots have the QBs stacked up in such a way that they see the top 2 as head and shoulders above the rest and then the next 4 as relatively equal?

I know in terms of fans and media we see it played as more of a top 3 or 4 close together, with Maye and McCarthy as the debate of who is 3 and who is 4.  But I could see a team seeing Williams and Daniels worth a top 10 pick and none of the others in that stratosphere, with guys like Nix and Penix not that far off from Maye and McCarthy.  If you are the Pats in that case and you think you can trade down and get a bunch of picks and still get a QB that you think is pretty close to the guy at #3, it would make sense to trade down.

This morning I was thinking about the possibility of them being the first curveball of the draft by selecting MHJ at 3, with the thinking that maybe they really like Bo Nix.  Guessing Arizona's phone would ring off the hook at that point.

The Front Porch / Why do Cats hate some people?

A couple of weeks ago Linda and I went out to dinner with a friend and his wife. In the course of the conversation, she mentioned that Cats do not like her. All Cats. While we were discussing this in a nice Italian Restaurant, we heard a cat scream from some back room. It was surreal. It was weird.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this before?
