Title: July 17, 1941--The STREAK eneds
Post by: LennG on July 17, 2016, 09:53:44 PM
75 years ago today, maybe the most famous streak of all time, Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak ended.

This was even before I was a glimmer in my parents eyes, but as a youth I knew all about baseball history, and the history of the 56 game hitting streak. Even though I was a Yankee hater forever, names like DiMaggio are still legendary and his 56 game hitting streak may live forever.

Ken Keltner, 3rd baseman of the Indians, robbed him of a a potential hit down the 3rd base line in that 57th game.  Dimag went on to hit in 19 straight games after that.  Imagine what the record could've been! :o
