Big Blue Huddle / Waller Undecided about Retirement
March 07, 2024, 08:52:23 AM
Waller still hasn't made up his mind if he's retiring.

I think if you're not clear on playing once March comes around, you're likely going to retire.

Anyway, the clock is ticking and the Giants will need to know soon enough.

Big Blue Huddle / Giants won't Tag Barkley
February 07, 2024, 10:58:43 AM
Not an unexpected move:

He's ask is likely too rich for the Giants but I suspect he won't sign a deal larger than the one JS offered last year.

Big Blue Huddle / Black Monday- HC and GM firings
January 08, 2024, 04:52:08 AM
I thought it would be useful to have a running thread around the various firings that will happen today.

Arthur Smith has been fired by the Falcons. I'm surprised he's lasted this long but it points to the fact that regardless of talent on offense, you still need someone to get them the ball:

Big Blue Huddle / Stapleton: QB evaluations
November 27, 2023, 01:43:59 PM
An interesting thread from Art Stapleton. He's extolling the virtues of the Giants brain trust QB development.

Whilst many on here are enjoying the DeVito story, very few of us think he's a full time starting.

My question is, if the Giants are so good at developing the QB - why hasn't Jones kicked onto the next level?

I personally think Stapleton is writing a puff piece but I'm interested to read the views of others.

The Front Porch / Ice Hockey Player Death - Arrest Made
November 14, 2023, 12:51:42 PM
A few weeks ago, Adam Johnson, a former NHL player was playing for UK ice hockey team and unfortunately, a coming together ensued and he died in a tragic accident.

Today the other player was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

This case has a number parallels to the Alec Baldwin case (i.e. doing his job, was he negligent, was he reckless etc).

If there's any interest in the thread, I'll post updates as and when I have them.

You can read more about the case here: https://news.sky.com/story/man-arrested-over-death-of-ice-hockey-player-adam-johnson-in-sheffield-13008311

Big Blue Huddle / Love vs Slayton
September 30, 2023, 05:08:39 AM
Julian Love signed for the Seahawks for 12million over 2 years with 5.9mil guaranteed.

Slayton signed for 12 mil over two years with 4.9mil guaranteed.

At the time it appeared that it was either one or the other, owing to the cap situation the giants found themselves in and their contracts are effectively a wash.

With Slayton doing next to nothing (alongside the majority of the offensive this season), do you wish we signed Love and let Slayton walk?

I'd probably have preferred Love, although his PFF grade of 51 highlights that he's allowed the most receptions at the safety position and he's not setting the world on fire.

For me, Slayton plays well in patches but he's not a constant threat.

With the return of Love on Monday night, I thought it would make an interesting conversation.

Big Blue Huddle / Jones Put the Team on his Back
September 17, 2023, 07:20:32 PM
Well done young man.

Superb second half. Superb.

First half was as bad as I've seen him but second half, he was superb.

I guess both sides of the argument can be right. But bet your last pound Sterling, we are all elated.

Well done, Daniel.

Big Blue Huddle / OBJ? All forgiven?
March 27, 2023, 03:25:34 PM
Pat Leonard's tweet suggests that Mara wouldn't veto signing OBJ.

I'd be interested to see what he has left.

An interesting move, that will rightly attract criticism of nepotism.

Big Blue Huddle / Kenny Golladay
January 09, 2023, 09:55:06 AM
I really liked the way he came up with his TD catch.

Is there any chance that this is the moment that changes his trajectory as a Giant and he gets meaningful post game snaps.

For me, I'm a fan. He's a tall rangey wideout who can make a contested catch. I think he can be a useful weapon.

He's also a good solider. I haven't read anywhere about him speaking out about his lack of game time. He's just tried to crack on and do his job.

I get his mostly hated on this board but I think there's still a good player in there.

As some of you may know, I run a small Youtube channel that interviews criminal justice professionals to discuss issues in the system.

Yesterday, I interviewed David Rudolf, who was the lead defence lawyer in the Michael Peterson case which shot to fame in the Netflix documentary, The Staircase. The documentary has recently been dramatised by HBO and stars Colin Firth.

When watching the HBO show, there are a number of factual inaccuracies which David and I discuss. Please note - if you're not familiar with case, this interview will contain spoilers.
