Quote from: MightyGiants on March 26, 2024, 09:49:52 AMNEW NFL KICKOFF PROPOSAL.

*Kicking Team: The 10 players cannot move until the ball hits the ground or player in the landing zone or the end zone.

*Receiving Team: All players in the setup zone cannot move until the kick has hit the ground or a player in the landing zone or the end zone.

*Any kick that hits in the Landing Zone (goal line to 20 yard line) must be returned.

*Any kick hits before the landing zone: Touchback to the 40 (as if it went out of bounds).

*Kick hits the Landing Zone, rolls into end zone and is downed: Touchback to the 20.

*Kick lands in end zone or goes out the back: Touchback to the 35.

*Onside Kick: 4th quarter begins, the team trailing has the opportunity to declare an onside kick to the officials. Current onside kickoff rules would apply.

*No fair catch or signal is allowed.

This proposal is just for one year only.

This feels like something that would be implemented in an elementary school PE class just to make sure everyone has to run on the play.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 24, 2024, 07:48:08 AMTues and Thurs will be tough, particularly Thursday.
Flyers and Avs fans are also thinking the games are going to be tough.

All I keep hearing (not on here) is how they can't beat this team and that team, yet they keep winning.  17-4-1 since all-star break?  I mean, I guess if they were good they would have won all 22 and outscored the opponents around 110-0 over the stretch.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 23, 2024, 02:56:26 PMDetroit nowhere to be found on this list despite having a downright explosive offense... shows the power of good drafting.
if this article is going strictly by cap-hit this season, it could very well be how Detroit has structured the deal.  The year before or next year, these players could have huge cap #'s on the same exact contracts.

Good bounce back win tonight.  Looking forward to Saturday Night.

Quote from: babywhales on March 21, 2024, 09:01:03 AMWouldn't you want home ice for game 7's?

Honestly, think it is overrated as not that many series go 7.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 20, 2024, 08:16:32 PMAt this point I just want everyone healthy for the playoffs. I'm not saying I don't care at all about seeding, but it's not nearly as important to me as it is to have everyone healthy. Ideally I hope Lindgren and Trouba are both back with at least 5-6 regular season games yet to get everything cohesive again, but frankly as long as they're ready for game one of the first series and as long as everyone is healthy, I'm fine. I know this team can compete with anyone when it's all hands on deck. They've already proven that to me. But if these current injuries linger and turn into issues that push into the playoffs, that will concern me. Being down our top two defensive defensemen is a problem.
Honestly, think I would rather be home for games 3 and 4 than 1 and 2.  This isn't 1985 where a team can make the play-offs with 70 points.  Every team in the play-offs is going to be good.  Not sure home-ice means anything anymore.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 20, 2024, 08:32:32 PMMaybe he and his agent and/or other advisers have decided there is zero upside to doing it. If you are basically certain the top three picks are going to be QBs, and the Cards have told you they're taking you if you're there, why bother? There's an outside chance you could get hurt, and if you know for sure the Cards will take you it's just not necessary. Plus I read in the Athletic that he's willing to do private workouts with teams if they want.

There are three years (2 where he was was a key player) of tape on Harrison Jr dominating at an elite program against top competition. People know what he is capable of at this point. I don't see his stock dropping because of this.
I completely agree with this take.  I never understand why top prospects from big programs bother with the combine or draft.  Their film should be enough.  Middle of road prospects?  Guys from smaller programs who may not have faced the top level of competition?  That is who needs to show what they can at the pro days and combine.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 13, 2024, 07:40:38 PMI still have an incredibly hard time seeing any team in the top three parting with their pick. I'd love to be wrong and see it happen, but it's just an unbelievably hard thing for me to envision. All three are incredibly QB-needy (assuming the Bears are moving on from Fields which seems close to certain), and this is the best QB draft in some time.

The other thing is, in the event that this were going to somehow happen, I see zero chance that our 2025 first rounder would not be part of the equation, regardless of what any "reports" have claimed. It would cost us that pick plus a decent bit more. The value of going from 6 to 3 (or 1 or 2) this year is exorbitant. If one of these teams' picks is actually for sale, rest assured there will be other suitors, and they will hold our feet to the fire. As they should.
It is not just about needing a QB.  For arguments sake, New England may like McCarthy better than one of the top-3 and feel they can trade down and still get him.  I always say this with the NFL and NHL draft, experts can rank the guys all they want.  "Draft gurus" can run 345,192 mocks.  One thing they all have in common is NONE of them are actually making the picks.  Chicago could for arguments sake, be ready move on from Fields,  but may not love any of these prospects as much as others.  Could decide to trade down for a haul and pick up a QB later or pickup someone in FA as a filler.

Thought last night was a huge win.  Igor with a 2nd straight shutout.  However, thought overall the team played very well defensively.  Had a few moments where the teams went back and forth and the defense was lost.  But, that was an exception.

Quote from: kartanoman on March 13, 2024, 05:46:17 PMWhere do Igor and Quickie rank among the all-time Ranger goalie tandems in team history? For those of you with a little more history under your belt than I do (NOTE: I started following the Rangers in 1978-79), the choice is obvious. But see who else made the top five in the following article:

New York Rangers Top Goalie Tandems Ranked

Enjoy!

Peace!
Without looking at it, they are by far the best.  However, they won't have the run that Beezer-Richter had together in terms of longevity (Igor and Quick are better than both of them).  People get nostalgic for Giacomin, so I am sure he and Gilles Villemeure (his autograph is like a work of art, btw).  However, have spoken to a few people whose opinion I trust that were watching back then and all have said Giacomin was a bit overrated and was outplayed by Cheevers in 72.

edit: just looked.  In terms of pure talent, it is far and away Igor and Quick.  Again, longevity as Rangers will hurt them on these lists.

Saban is just being pissy because he is not going to be able to deal with players who are actual making money for themselves and not just stuffing his pockets.
