If the Giants follow the Bills model, top RB prospects will not be on their radar

Maybe so, but the Bills have had their yardage machine QB since 2018 whereas the Giants will no longer have Barkley's contribution potential.

Not likely to unmake a made-up mind, but it might break a tie. In any case, I hope it's viewed as a novelty and not as a precedent.

WR Kadarius Toney (2021 1-20)

CB Deandre Baker (2019 1-30)

CB Eli Apple (2016 1-10)

OT Ereck Flowers (2015 1-9)

DT William Joseph (2003 1-25)

RB Ron Dayne (2000 1-11)

Unfortunately, the Giants have been as predictable in picking "busts" as they have been otherwise which no longer- see above- can be seen as a surprise. But then again, 6 in 24, 1st Round Drafts doesn't seem quite so bad except for the lost opportunities/consequences.

Cheers!

I suppose it may be just the loser habit which explains why this place is becoming so effing joyless.

While sticking to the question; if they can add one of these guys at 2 of those position on Day 2, that would be dandy.

CB: Quinyon Mitchell, Terrion Arnold, Cooper DeJean

RB: Trey Benson, Jonathan Brooks, Marshawn Lloyd

TE: Ja'Tavion Sanders, although t'would be a Day 2 surprise while a 3-tech would be an even bigger one.

As whom still is and where on Day 3 is the definition of who knows, I'll leave it those who feel otherwise.

Cheers!

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 21, 2024, 10:19:49 AMDon't fall for the hype

God forbid! But, as the "Silly- for all but you- Season" approaches its end, could you not cut just a bit of slack for those more impetuous, less disciplined folks, who might actually enjoy an enthusiasm otherwise rarely afforded Giants fans?

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 19, 2024, 11:04:46 AMWhich Giants fans did they poll because everywhere I go the vocal majority want a fresh start at Qb and it's not close. Most seem to fear that a wr would just end up like every other receiving option we've had the past half decade.

Also they gave way to many options, should have just been wr, qb, or other.

That's what extreme personal bias can do to you, Jess. Ever think of that?

I understand the point of the question. However, by now, we should have gained a realistic view of risk/reward/opportunity/chance as it applies to the Draft. Thus, I'd hate to think that hole-filling must exclude star-collecting. Why would we choose to handicap ourselves before we start?  :-?? Still, I do get it! It's always as much about luck as it is about anything else.

Cheers!

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 19, 2024, 09:36:24 AMFor the record, I am good either way.  If the Giants take a QB I will be fine (I will be less fine if they give up draft assets to trade up, but I am not going to be upset) and I will be fine if the Giants don't draft a QB and ride with Jones for another season and acquire an elite WR prospect.

The harsh reality is that my opinions of any of the Giants' decisions will be based on far less information and knowledge of facts than Schoen and Daboll will have in making their choices.  It would be sort of arrogant of me to think I will know better with less intel.  I appreciate that it's quite possible that the decision Schoen and Daboll make could prove to be incorrect, but I am not in a position to second-guess it without more information (like how things play out over time).

Unfortunately, not everyone here shares your view, Rich. Quite obviously, while honest criticism is to be welcomed, there are a few bias-bound folks right here, every day, who'd rather bash than root as likely will become apparent next week.

Cheers!

Content is content and little more than that. Still, it's not hard to see a basis for Rich Eisen's rather widely shared view nor is Joe Schoen's stance in any way unreasonable.

If there is to be a right or wrong, a win or lose in such matter, that should become clear 6 days from now if the Giants have an opportunity to take a QB at 6 and choose otherwise. And in such event, we can be sure that certain parties right here will make clear their BM&W displeasure.

It's not hard to see why given that the $350K workout bonus is small change when he compares his current 2024 $6.2 million contract to those of others: e.g., Gabe Davis and Darnell Mooney who have been less productive yet are paid more than twice as much.

Slayton has had between 724 and 770 yards per as the Giants leading WR for 4 of the past 5 seasons while during that time his 15.1 yards per reception are fourth most among the 79 pass-catchers with 200-plus receptions. But chances are he now is concerned that if, as is likely, the Giants add a much more highly rated, and productive WR1 to go with the still developing Hyatt and Robinson, it will be at the expense of his production and future with the team.

And if so, good luck and best wishes to him.

Cheers!

Whether or not most accurate, it does seem quite reasonable, and consistent with the broad consensus

As always, well done, guys.

My impression is that the sum of needs, costs and performance estimates, barring a math failure, will sustain the current Mock Draft consensus of a WR1 being either Nabers or Odunze which I then see as matter of our exhaustively analyzed, bias-free personal preference.  <:-P

I do understand that this is how we may choose to occupy ourselves, but until I see one of them and his team win their Conference, i.e. play for a Lombardi, the term "prospect" will continue to be not just be a matter of someone's opinion but will also mean little or nothing to me.

Let me know if you feel that I am being too cynical.

Cheers!
