JJ himself said he spent the most time with the Giants than any other team he interviewed with. That tells me two things:

1) Schoen and company did their due diligence on JJ.
2) Schoen and company did not feel, in all the time they spent with the kid, that he is what the Giants needed at #6.

I'm completely fine with that. I wanted a QB as well but I did not want to grab one just to grab one. I believe Schoen and Daboll wanted one as well. It just wasn't McCarthy.

Wasn't Jones near the bottom of the stat sheet in throws over 20 yards? How exactly is that an echo chamber when the numbers (and watching eyes) bear it out?

I'm onboard with the pick because I trust Schoen and Daboll still. I'm a little doubtful that this pick will move the offensive needle much.

My concern is that as a rookie, they are chomping at the bit to make an impact. They want to get the ball in their hands to showcase their skills. If Jones is skittish in the pocket and can't/won't deliver the ball to him and the other receivers, frustration and demotivation will set in.

If Jones can't get him the ball, Nabers will be the equivalent of a Ferrari sitting in the garage.

If I were the GM, I wouldn't. But... Schoen is the man and has much more information and knowledge from his folks than I have. If he made that move, I trust his judgment more than mine.

I think we will get a playmaker, either at QB or WR, that will help us tremendously. I would be surprised and disappointed if it isn't one of those two positions.

The only QB I would be less than thrilled about is Penix, but only because of his injury history.

Most players in the NFL have financial stability for their families as their top motivator.

Seem to be some pretty knowledgeable folks here.

I think Maye is right up with the best talent in this draft.

He's got that 'arm arrogance' Coach Daboll would look for.

He's got enough moxy for the ball coach but not too much for Mara.

He's tall, big framed and his throws can cut through the unforgiving meadowland winds playoff time in January.

Ultimately, checks a bunch of boxes for what Mara and Daboll want.

I'd be willing to pay a steep price because Daniel Jones just seems like 'damaged goods' at this point.

When QB becomes your need that need takes precedence over everything.

I don't know if Mara actually is getting in the way or not.  It's all rumors and such even if they are believable rumors.  But I do know if somebody can't properly do his job because his boss won't let him then there's no reason for him to have that job anymore.  Whether he's fired or quits he's in a got to go situation. 

I do agree that Mara's involvement, direct or indirect, makes Schoen's job more difficult.

We cannot have ownership getting in the way of things any more.  It's Mara's team, he can do what he wants with it, but if what he wants is to win he needs to stay the hell out of the way.

I get what you're saying but that's not how things work, or should. Every organization has a hierarchy. There are ramifications and repercussions for taking those actions (leaving or getting fired). He currently has 1 of 32 positions and all of the employers who hire for those positions talk.

In a similar way, you're suggesting he go partial Wink. That would be a bad move. He needs to stay true to himself and do his job as best as he can despite the interference. Doing otherwise would be career suicide.
