They didn't need to do this now. They could have done it at any time. It's also nominal and there were other ways of doing it (Leo).

I think it's a reward for all the effort he has been putting in as a leader and a mentor. It sends a message to the rest of the team too that they will go to their team Leader to step up and vice versa to reward and this is what we expect.

Yes, that was the $200 million dollar year wasn't it. They had a very good Defense with the FA additions of Snacks, JJ and Vernon. Only four on Offense and that's repeating Shepard and Eli vs Jones is a coin toss. So just Pugh and Odell would start on today's team.

JPP and Vernon are a coin toss against Thibs and OJ.

In another year, this team implodes and those high priced Vets are a problem. In another year, the 2024 young players have another year under their belt and 4-5 of that 2016 team wouldn't start or even make the team.

Sounds like DJ sending him texts from the facility is coaching him up and as a rookie, maybe he shouldn't be leaving right after practice. Doesn't sound like he's gotten the message yet.

The Offensive line was pathetic. I would have kept Pugh and Richburg and Pugh would start as a Guard. Eli had 4000 yards with no real threat after Beckham and Shepard. He had no Running Backs that would scare anyone. 3.5 YPA. Will Tye was their leading TE with 375 yards and he may not have made this year's PS. 4 Starters

On Defense Jenkins and DRC were solid that year. I would start them with Adoree. Collins would start at SS. Casillas at WILB. JPP and Vernon with Thibs and OJ would be close to the 4 Aces and the starters would be a tough call. Snacks would start with Lawrence and Williams. 7 Starters

Josh Brown was money and a toss-up against Gano but I'll leave that up to our resident kicking expert. Tough one too with Wing and Gillan. @kartanoman ?

So, 11 starters without Special Teams.

Yet this team went to the playoffs.

It's horrible what Eli was given as a supporting team at the end of his career. Even on Defense, I would only name a handful.

@kingm56 what would your scores have been for the Giants at the same time last year and how would the scores compared?

That would coincide with my thread analysis of the two season's rosters. Except my comparison was last year's end of season in some cases. Like Jones vs Jones.

Off the top of my head, LY's QB would have been fair to poor. The perception of the Receivers was pretty high going into last season with Golladay, Toney, Robinson and Shepard. TE would have been much lower as would ILB and CB.

This project can't be properly completed by including factors such as luck and potential. It does however include what would be intangibles such as QB elusiveness, schemed time to throw based on routes and Quarterback style such as pocket QB vs highly mobile and passing on the run ability. It includes designed Runs by QB and Runs because of coverage or failure to get a timely pass off. Those items also have an effect in the evaluation of Receivers and the Offensive Line. Let's say for example that Hurts didn't run for as much yardage as he did, and instead completed more passes at a rate of 70%, or in doing so was sacked more and absorbed more pressure those would affect stats.
