The Front Porch / Re: For all you Costco shoppers

If all I bought at Costco were their rotisserie chickens it would still be worth the annual membership.

Yet another experience - The uncle of a guy I work with has refused to get vaccinated. His choice is not driven by the typical reasons we currently hear about. I'm not sure what he suffers from, only that he has some sort of a mental health condition. About 20 years ago he lost his sense of taste and smell, and his doctors can't explain the reason why. A couple of weeks ago he tested positive for Covid and ended up in the hospital for a week or so, but is home now. Thankfully he never reached the point of needing to be put on a ventilator. The really weird part of all this is that while in the hospital with Covid he regained his sense of smell and taste. Quite strange.

Great pics Moose. We used to vacation at the OBX back when our kids were....kids. We always stayed up in Corolla when it was just being developed. Haven't been there in years but I imagine that area is now quite over-developed. It was very quiet back in the day. Wild horses, uncrowded beaches, lots of memories.

I'm a few episodes in to The Chestnut Man (Danish: Kastanjemanden), on Netflix. It's from the book by the same name, written by S

Glad to see one of my favorite movies, Rio Bravo, make the list, even if at only 16.

squib: It's less than a half-hour from my house.  I'm sure Len also has encountered that town, inasmuch as I know he and his wife have been a few times to mid-state PA and Lancaster County in particular.  Bob

I was close to Intercourse once, and I couldn't stop there.

I remember years ago a friend of mine carried a Turtle Club card in his wallet which had several "suggestive" questions with the answers on it. This was one of them.

Great post Len, I really enjoyed reading it even though I don't recall ever owning a Spaldeen. I remember using baseball's, whiffle balls, rubber balls, and even Superballs when they were a thing. Fun times, simpler times.

Generally don't watch much TV during the summer months. However we did watch the first few episodes of The Kominsky Method (Netflix), while visiting some friends recently. My wife and I both enjoyed it, so we'll likely pick it back up once the days get shorter.

Maybe Jolly had been curious as to what happens, if he calls. I actually curious what was the code, that they wanted him to run. The "Windows-Key + R" will run the command, scripts, etc., at the logged in user account's access level. Since most of the people log in as administrators at home, even if the actual name of the account is Jolly for example, it's rather easy to gain remote access to the system. This type of scam counts on the administrator account, without it, the script will fail.

Well, there are ways to gain administrator access from the standard user account, but that's too long of a script to type in. Albeit they could give you a link to the script to run...

I'll stop here, before start to list all of the possibilities....

Hey hey easy there. I come here during work to get away from the I/T issues I deal with all day. Now I almost feel as if I should be getting paid to read this.  ;)

I was going to add a comment, but after reading this, what else can one say.
Crazy!!
If you're going to use veterinary medicine to treat COVID, please do society a favor and get yourself spayed/neutered while you're there.

Mostly groaners, but what the heck here goes.

I had a nice conversation with some dolphins today and now we're friends. We just clicked.

Someone keeps anonymously sending me celery. I think I'm being stalked.

An archeologist threw a party after discovering the largest lower leg bone ever recorded. It was quite the shindig.

Did you know that a school of piranha can devour a small child down to the bone in 30 seconds? Anyway, I lost my job at the aquarium today.

Back in my day, I could walk into a store with $20 in my pocket and walk out with a case of beer, 6 bottles of whiskey, 4 loaves of bread, and 2 gallons of milk. Can't do that today. Too many cameras.

I can't believe some people don't eat the crust. It's still food. So what if it doesn't taste the same as the rest of the watermelon.

Elton John bought a treadmill for his pet rabbit. It's a little fit bunny.

I'm reading a horror story in Braille. Something bad is going to happen. I can feel it.

Have you ever played quiet tennis? It's just like regular tennis, but without the racket.

The sweater I bought online keeps shocking me with static electricity. So I returned it for another one free of charge.

The CEO of IKEA was just elected prime minister of Sweden. He's currently assembling his cabinet.

Patient: "I'm having trouble hearing lately."
Doctor: "Can you describe the symptoms?"
Patient: "Homer is a fat, dumb guy and his wife, Marge, has big blue hair."

Flew down once to St. Thomas/St. John back in the late 90's.  We rented a car for the week we were there, and one day wandered down to the south side of the island (ST), and watched the cruise folks mill around the outdoor market. Crowded. Not our thing.  Spent some time at the east end of the island (Red Hook), much quieter, some good restaurants there and they didn't do ID checks on our kids, who were 14 and 17 at the time. We let them each have a drink with dinner. Had dinner one night at an Irish bar/restaurant called Molly Malone's, where I had perhaps the best Irish stew I've ever eaten. Not sure if it's still there though. One of the highlights of the visit was snorkeling at Coki Beach, Kind of a smaller, mostly locals beach (the two afternoons we went there we were the only white folks there). Snorkeling around some of the just-under-the-surface rock formations and caves was amazing, with all sorts and sizes of tropical fish. Hint - they really love canned Cheese Whiz. Beware though many of the women at the beach were topless. Our 17 year old son got an eyeful  8))  Also, there were a few "food trailers" serving eats on the beach, including one vendor that did steak and lobster and brought it to our beach blanket. Almost every day we'd stop at a small road-side fruit stand manned by a young 15-ish year old girl to buy soursop. We got to know her somewhat and asked her to recommend a good, non touristy restaurant, Without hesitating she told us about Cuzzins, a local favorite. We had a very good meal there.
A one day visit, by way of a sketchy overcrowded boat, to neighboring St. John was way more laid back and fun, though touristy.

We've also been to The Cayman Islands. Went with two other couples back in the early/mid 90's. I remember far less of that trip - the rum was flowing the entire week. If you go there go to Hell, it's a tourist trap, but quite amusing. Especially if you talk the the devil. Great Rum Cake....everywhere on the island.
