That's what I was thinking as well.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on Today at 05:09:38 PMI get that, but we will never be able to field a competent team if everyone doesn't give the people we do draft time to get. Neal has barely played a full season and he's a bust, Ezeudu has played multiple positions never really being able to develop in one spot. They need time.

J - Neal looked worse than any 1st round I have ever seen play. He was completely whiffing on blocks multiple times in year 2.  The coaching staff would be negligent to assume he comes around.  Plan for worst and get surprised if better.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on Today at 03:27:11 PMBut why? We have holes everywhere, if we've solved the line, let's solve another problem.

Nobody knows if the OL problems have been solved yet and if not we lose half the team's ability plus stress the D.  I am not convinced Neal will be the starting RT so assume Ele is there and Runyon is one of the two guards.  That leaves the hole at other guard.  Eze and McKethan are not starters.

Quote from: spiderblue43 on Today at 01:53:41 PMThey need a great boundary receiver..go up..get it talent. Odunze is an obvious choice

They do for sure.  I am not sure it has to be a 6'2" or 6'3" size WR.  Remember Hakeem Nicks was only 6'0" and OBJ was only 5'11" and they played X.  Both could as you said "go up and get it."  Odunze is logical for sure.  So is Brian Thomas.

Malik Nabers has the hands and explosiveness to go up to get it.  My question continues to be with him is how much of his LSU production was from the X as opposed to the slot?  I read in multiple places he played slot 50% of the time.  If his production was 70% out of only 50% from the slot, that would not be a good fact.

Brian Thomas is no consolation so long as he develops his route running to an NFL quality level.  If he does that, he may be better than the Big 3.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 11:45:58 AMThis reminds me of the Brandon Beane quote about moving up to draft Josh Allen:

"I mean, we got criticized a little bit for how much we gave up for Josh. And I'm like, 'Well, if he doesn't work out, I'm not going to be here anyway. And if he does work out, nobody's gonna give a s–t,'" said Beane

That quote is what got me thinking of how Schoen views his future tenure.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on Today at 01:04:42 PMI've been super-high on Zinter from day one. But the more I research, the more I discover a lot of analysts aren't high on him at all. Very confusing  :-??

First team All American in 2023, started 42 of 45 games and leader on the best OL for the past 3 years.  He's big at 6'6" and at 322 pounds, he probably could even add strength weight if he wanted.  I've seen him play a lot.  Michigan's zone and gap scheme blocking is very sophisticated and complicated and Zinter knew it intimately.  He played RG at Michigan.  His season ending injury was a bone break of tibia and fibula, not a soft tissue (e.g. ligament) injury which is much better for his long term prognosis.

Draft Zak Zinter to play RG and play Runyan at LG.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 11:22:20 AMOne thing I remember from Schoen's presser is his comment about the team not being a player or two away.  I think that may indicate that Schoen shares your view.

How much time does Schoen thinks he has left in his Giants tenure?  If less he may swing for the fences this year and gamble on a QB.

I think their terms may be to trade no farther up than 4 but hopefully not have to then hope their QB falls to them and if not go WR.

Is this the worst kept secret at the moment?

I think this is all what we think will happen.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 22, 2024, 10:35:18 PMAbsolutely insane. Just sheer bedlam at the Mecca. Unreal win.

Knicks found a way to overcome another unconscionably bad performance by Brunson. I don't know what his problem is but they're going nowhere if he doesn't figure this out quickly.

Enjoying this win tonight though. Absolutely tremendous stuff. This team has some magic going.

You know maybe it is good they are finding others to pick it up when brunson is down.

Quote from: todge on April 02, 2024, 01:39:17 PMThe Giants have plenty of slot/Z receivers. No question that Nabors has explosive YAC ability but I doubt the Giants would invest in yet another slot guy. Harrison and Odunze are classic X guys and with Slayton the only true X on the team, I think they will opt for that type.

That is my million dollar question about Nabers.  Is he a true X?  OBJ played X as a 5'11" guy

Quote from: kingm56 on April 22, 2024, 10:45:12 AMJoe, I get your perspective, my friend.  However, I actually like our talent a little better than 2022; I think defensively we've made some gains.  I do get your trepidation though, Joe.  With a few lucky breaks/draft picks, we could become the 2023 version of Houston

Matt - I swear I have PTSD from the Dallas opening game where Evan Neal looked like he was throwing the game. Never have I seen a team less prepared.

Quote from: PSUBeirut on April 22, 2024, 02:32:55 PMThe guy that sticks out to me as most surprising will always be Thomas Lewis.  That dude was NOWHERE on my radar or anyone else's in the 1st round.  I just remember watching the draft and the hosts all scrambling to see who he was and they didn't even have a graphic for the guy so all they patched together was a random screen shot with his helmet on from some game film.  So embarrassing.  =))  =))  =))

Great call.  He still is jot on my radar.   =))

I just picked Nabers.  I have leaned strongly for Odunze, but I think Nabers is kore explosive and athletic.  Think we need that.
