Quote from: londonblue on April 19, 2024, 12:02:11 PMA completely dispassionate assessment is Minnesota will win any bidding war to trade up. It might be to 3 but Denver are said to be prepared to sell the farm to move up. I do not see Schoen getting into a bidding war so I have us as most likely to go WR at 6 but more likely to trade down than up. We will find out in 6.5 days!

It's funny about Denver.  As an admittedly non-Denver fan, it would seem like the Broncos would be well served by sitting tight and drafting Bo Nix at 12.  He would seem to be the perfect QB for what Sean Payton likes to run.

The Tweet is a short video, and the link leads to pictures.  There seems to be more work on the grass (conditioning?) than I ever remember and the strength training is much different than my younger days at the gym.

The top 3 were exactly as I expected them to be and precisely in line with my view. I am surprised some are surprised.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 19, 2024, 11:20:43 AMThe only reason I am looking at Qb is because it could be 5-6 years before we could get a class that rivals this one. There are no elite Qbs in the pipeline in college right now. I mean the best 2 guys right now for next year are Sanders and Dart, right now the top 4 this year are better than those guys.

A team usually drafts one QB.  So I think it's more a function of how many teams need QBs vs the supply (which I don't think is all that favorable this year).

Teams have found quality QBs in draft classes that were considered weak or average.  Last year's QB class was average, at best, yet the Texans scored big by drafting CJ Stroud.  The 2017 QB class led by Mitch Trybisky was considered weak, but the Chiefs drafted an air-raid QB, Mahomes, and the rest is history.  The 2018 QB class was considered historically good yet only the Bills and Ravens came out winners in the draft a QB in round one sweepstakes.  The Browns, Jets, and Cards all came out as losers.

I can't speak for fans, but I will say in the Giants Twitterverse/Podcast world, there seems to be strong agreement that it's better to draft an elite WR than reach/trade for a QB.   They seem down on the whole, QB or bust, fans.

Even on our forum, while there are a few QB or bust fans among us, there seems to be a substantial portion who seem to either favor a WR or think it would be the Giants' best option under the circumstances.

Mighty,

I couldn't agree with you more. There are so many fans just on this site alone that have advocated taking the best WR available at that spot, then being desperate and trading up or getting the 4th or 5th best QB.

I would say the pole is right on the money, thanks for sharing

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 19, 2024, 11:04:46 AMWhich Giants fans did they poll because everywhere I go the vocal majority want a fresh start at Qb and it's not close. Most seem to fear that a wr would just end up like every other receiving option we've had the past half decade.

Also they gave way to many options, should have just been wr, qb, or other.

That's what extreme personal bias can do to you, Jess. Ever think of that?

Cheers!

The Front Porch / Re: Why do Cats hate some peop...
Last post by Jolly Blue Giant - April 19, 2024, 11:20:49 AM
Cats are mysterious creatures that see themselves as the highest order of the food chain. While dogs look up to humans and think, "they feed me and give me shelter, they must be God"; whilst a cat thinks, "they feed me and give me shelter, I must be God"

Here's another example:

Two dogs and a house cat die at the same time. Standing at heaven's door, God asks the German Shepard what he believes in. The German Shepard says, "Discipline, loyalty, and obedience". God says, "you may enter"

Next, God asks the Doberman what he believes in. The Doberman says, "Loyalty, obedience, and love of my family". God says, "you may enter"

Next, God asks the house cat what he believes in. The cat says, "I believe you're in my seat"

Anyway, it's quite normal for cats to have one person they trust in, no matter what, and see others as a nuisance or just in their way. Cats take a long time to earn your trust, unless you've raised them from birth. They especially hate strangers (in most cases). As far as your friend goes, cats are intuitive and can sense things we can't. If they sense that she is nervous around cats, they pick up on it immediately and will want nothing to do with her. The more she feels that cats don't like her, the more it becomes part of who she is and cats sense it. Having a cat screech while talking about it is coincidental, but very funny. That's all I got  :-??

Quote from: andrew_nyGiants on April 18, 2024, 03:57:59 PMMy interest in trading down hinges on two things:

1) The trading partner offers a top 12-15 pick

and

2) We get a 1st rounder next year as part of the trade.

If they can achieve those two objectives, I'm all in on a trade down.

It is reported the Broncos are wanting to trade up and are Ok with including Patrick Surtain in the trade. If that is true, I'd be ok with moving to pick 12 while acquiring a stud CB and still having pick 12. Surtain and Banks would be an awesome CB duo. Should allow Dex, Thibs and Burns to eat!
