Yeah but his Pro Day is today and his is the last one of "the big four". I'd imagine we'll hear about him non-stop for a week thereafter  ;)

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Predictions
March 25, 2024, 06:14:07 PM
I predict I will record a few pre-draft podcasts giving my views on prospect fits to NYG. I then predict we will draft at least one player I didn't like🤣

Best fit for what I want to see? Odunze. He offers several attributes our other WR's just don't.

But Nabers isn't exactly a consolation prize...

I'd say both. In Neal and JMS we took players considered "plug and play" then tried to change their technique. That's a coaching problem.

The fact we identified players who couldn't change technque successfully, even knowing we'd try to, is an evaluation issue.

That's the equivalent of drafting a plug and play zone corner to exclusively play press-man.

This post was liked by former Pro Personnel Director and GM Randy Mueller! My claim to fame!

Banks is the only one guaranteed a starting role. Major  improvement is needed opposite him and a veteran  likely to be bought in during FA or we have to draft over what we have

Flott - can't get off blocks or tackle. Bowen expects his DB's to help in run defense. I don't  mind him in coverage but if he isn't  the nickel back, is he even going to make the team? He isnt physical enough to make it on ST's

Hawkins III - Overmatched when thrown in as a rookie and tackling was pitiful given his size.  Could rebound but shouldn't bet on it

Holmes - flag happy UFA. Can't see him being back but he's the one nickel who tackles well and can blitz too

McCloud - solid role player but how much are you tendering him as an RFA when he's a core ST guy but not someone we will play at perimeter CB if we have someone better? Right of first refusal tender is likely to be higher than $2.6m. He's not worth anything near that so either he signs for fairly close to the minimum before the league year starts or he'll be a UFA.

Forget the other two.

Given the desire to stop the run, the Texans Jonathan Bullard might be the EDGE we target over Huff and Uche, both of whom would be very explosive pass rushers in a stunt and loop scheme.

I can see us shopping top shelf at G. Onwenu with his previous experience under Bricillo and preference for RG makes sense given that position has more man pass blocks than LG. Lot of good LG's in this draft but not many RG's. My alternative is Jon Runyan jr

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Josh Ezeudu and Marcus McKethan

Ezeudu, absolutely is a failed pick. You shouldn't have 3rd rounders that don't start unless they play a key role as a 3rd WR or nickel CB & see action 60% of snaps anyway.

McKethan? Nah, he was a long shot to be anything.

Seen it many, many times. But each time I chuckle and let put a quiet "oooh, yeah!"

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Mitch Trubisky now a free agent

I was thinking exactly the same thing  :P

This is the sort of BS move for "a veteran QB to challenge DJ", that a) wouldn't challenge him and b) would make our team worse if he had to play.

I'm not sure Trubisky is even significantly better than DeVito!

This might be the best move of the offseason! F*ck the Cowboys!

Love that the two biggest stars admit they're part of the problem.  Long may it remain that way  ;)

Big Blue Huddle / Re: UK Giants does his first mock draft

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 09, 2024, 11:25:00 AMI like his draft, but I don't believe that McCarthy will last anywhere near 19

Yeah, me neither. But it was fun to get him later on AND grab a mega haul of picks. The point of accepting the trade was to see what else I could get, at which positions, on day two.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on February 09, 2024, 01:41:29 PMOne pick I'm a little leery of is Cooper Beebe who didn't look very good at all at the senior bowl. Jackson Powers-Johnson on the other (previously ranked the same as Beebe) absolutely dominated the best of the best pass rushers and defensive lineman. He's a friggin beast. I was high on Beebe until after the Senior Bowl. Now, I'd rather take Zak Zinter, who has fallen because of his injury...but that's just me...overly opinionated and often wrong

Hate to tell you this but Beebe accepted his invitation to the Senior Bowl but didn't attend...  Not sure who you thought you were watching but it wasn't him!
