His offensive line stunk, no Barkley, Wrs weren't getting open. Plus two other WBs couldn't get success with this roster. I know Jones made mistakes, but give him a solid line and see what he can do.

Hello BBH. It's been a while since I last posted. Let's not forget that Taylor has a lot more experience than Jones too. Plus I think the broadcast said he played for six different teams. So you would think he would pick up a few things in his time in the league. So naturally he would look better than Jones. But they still didn't score any touchdowns.

I had a bad feeling about this game with all the injuries and such. Oh well,6-2 is better than previous seasons.

I'm not sure how to vote on this one. In my heart I think it's time for Coughlin to step down. He's been with the Giants for over a decade and gave them 2 Super Bowl titles. His teams more over than not, have been mediocre to poor. This year I think the Giants are better than their record. They've been in pretty much every game except one and have just had trouble finishing games. TC has apparently lost two of his top qualities this year - controlling the clock and coach's challenges. He used to be really good at both of those but this year he's obviously slipping. This year despite the close games, he hasn't had much of a running game or defense so part of me thinks that if the Giants should fix those, things would be okay. I'm wondering if the bigger problem is Reese and the scouting department as there's a lot of players on the team who wouldn't be on other teams because they're not very good. We all know several key areas have been ignored for a long time in the draft and free agency. That has hurt the Giants in the long run. So, again, I just don't know. I like Coughlin and I like the attitude he brought when he first came to the Giants. I'm thankful for the 2 SB championships and I know the problems on this team are not entirely his fault, especially this year. He hasn't had a lot lot to work with. I'm not so sure there's an easy fix with this team.

For me, I never saw Gifford play except for highlight reels. He was way before my time. I remember Morris - vaguely. Same goes for OJ. I don't really remember Hampton, oddly enough, but that's probably because he played on some poor teams. Tiki is probably the freshest in my mind and like others have said, his off the field antics and the way he left the team left a bad taste in my mouth. However, when he played it was hard to not root for him. If I had to pick the best though, it's hard to say but both OJ and Morris were favorites of mine, yet I agree that Tiki was an all around player. I'd probably, on a very slight margin, go with Tiki. I can't really stand him now though.

Is that Weatherford in your avatar?

Yes, he is. That's from the ring ceremony. I thought he looks excited, yet kind of silly (I think it was his "suit") so I decided to use the pic as my avatar.

There is no doubt that Weatherford fully enjoyed going to the Super Bowl

NY Giants' Steve Weatherford is going to the Superbowl 2012

Yeah. I kind of became a fan of his after that moment. For a punter he's got a lot of spirit...team spirit.

I just now stumbled upon this thread. Some of my faves that weren't stars have been mentioned (Burt, Way). Some of those I liked played the same position but at different points in time - Phil McConkey, Stephen Baker and Ike Hilliard. Of those, I think Hilliard may be considered a star. My fave memories of McConkey were from Super Bowl XXI - when he ran onto the field, he was so excited he ran all the way down the sideline and knocked over the pylon in the end zone. As a kid (I was 11 at the time) I thought that was funny and of course his TD catch that bounced off of Bavaro, which has been in the highlight clips ever since.

Injury prone, inexperienced, non nasty, non aggressive, questionable competitiveness and sounds like he's going to get flagged for holding on a regular basis and he's not a drive blocker. Score. I give everyone a shot, but, this reads like they drafted a career backup no better.

I think this pick is rather upsetting. As you said, injury prone and inexperienced. The Giants already have an offensive line full of guys with previous or current injuries and then they draft another who missed significant playing time due to injuries. Surely they could've found a more suitable pick to sub for an aging OL. Doesn't sound like one of JR's better picks.

As a Hawkeye fan I think this is a great pick considering they got him in the 6th round. I don't know how he'll do in the NFL but he was pretty good with Iowa, from what I can remember, anyway.

"He's an incredibly unselfish young man. I don't know that I've ever been around anybody as committed as he is, with the heart he has," Holtz told the paper. "I hope my son grows up to be like Jacquian Williams. I feel that strongly about him as a young man."

I can see why Coughlin would want him. Discipline.

Just thought I'd point out that my birthday is Sept. 25th. I consider last week's win in Dallas as an early bday present. ;-)

I'm the lone Iowa Giants fan - on this site anyway.

I find it hard to believe that this Super Bowl is now 17 years ago. Talk about time flying. I don't mean to be using a pessimistic approach but I've always felt that the Bills LOST that game more than the Giants WON it. That was too close for comfort, especially if Norwood hit that FG. Thank goodness he missed it though.  #:-S

Now that I'm finally on board this site (I know, took me long enough) I figured this would be the best place to start posting. By the way, I've been wondering where most of you disappeared to - it's good to see you all again.

I live in Dubuque, IA and I'm probably the only Giants fan who's never actually set foot in New York. Crazy, isn't it? I just had my 33rd birthday on the 25th and I've been a Giants fan for well over 20 years (22 to be exact).
